CHOC or CHLA fellowship program 2015

Nurses Career Support

Hello !

I have recently applied for CHOC's fellowship program for 1 year experienced nurses and plan to apply for CHLA's RN transition program. For those who have applied in the past, I was wondering what the hiring process is like. Are there multiple interviews or panel interviews and how long does it take to hear for a response?

For those who have also applied for this cohort and are in the same boat as I am, can you please keep me updated if you have heard a response?

Thank you in advance !

Hi Laurbaks,

I just accepted the offer for heme/onc today at CHOC. From what I heard, today was the last day they were making offers before the June 22nd start. I don't know if it is just my unit. Did you hear back? Hopefully we will be co-workers! :)

Hi, I am also interested in hearing both of your experiences with the hiring process. I applied to several Fellowship positions and have a phone interview tomorrow. Congrats quynhthle! How long was the whole process for you?

How exciting! Congratulations on the phone interview! Is it with CHOC or CHLA/which unit? Personally, phone interviews make me more nervous than in-persons. Call me crazy :sarcastic:

I applied on April 23rd. Received an interview invitation on May 13 for an interview on the 20th. Got an offer the same day. Going to sign the official papers next week with HR :) It was actually a rather quick process, thank goodness. I wouldn't know what I would do with myself waiting with all that anxiety!

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions. I love sharing!

I had my phone interview with CHOC today. It was a brief interview with someone from HR. I am scheduled for an interview with the unit manager in the surgical unit on Monday, also for the June 22 start date. It may possibly be a panel interview. Do you have any tips? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you so much!

How odd! I never had a pre screen interview with HR. I guess each unit does things differently :)

How awesome! Is it surgical post op? That unit is very interesting too!

I was totally taken by surprise with my interview. It WAS a panel interview with 5 people including the unit manager. The questions were asked by every single member and it went so quickly I can't remember the details. But it was mainly personality questions versus clinical skill. I do remember them asking me about "why pediatric oncology" and "tell me a time when..." type of questions. Since I didn't prepare for those, they were pretty much answered on the spot since panic started to wash in! Oh yes and ask questions.

Good luck and smile often! You will be great!

Any word kdele15, Laurbaks? :)

Oh yes, I went on my interview last Monday, but unfortunately I didn't get a position. They let me know Thursday through email. It's ok.

Ah! Sorry to hear that!
