Members are discussing their experiences with job offers and rejections from a specific hospital. Some members have received offers for specific units, while others have been rejected and are discussing their disappointment. There are also questions about the number of new grad nurses hired for different units and the application process.
Hi friends!
I know it's early and applications don't open until the end of the month but I wanted to start a discussion for anyone applying to the October 2025 cohort for Children's Health. This is my DREAM job so I'm super nervous but we got this!

Oh perfect! Thank you so much for answering all the questions we have. It's so helpful.
No problem! Childrens is very hard to get into unless you know someone or come from TCU as I've been told LOL not sure if it's true but it def checks out based on people I've known to get residency. I'm keeping my expectations realistic so that I'm not devastated if I don't get in for this round too LOL

I've also heard that it is very hard! Wishing you the best of luck. I really hope we both get a spot. It's definitely my #1 choice.
I met one of the recruiters at a job fair my school had. She said it's important to have one really good rec letter. My friend who worked in the CVICU there said it was important to get one from my pediatrics instructor. I reached out to her and she wrote me a good one since we had a good rapport. The recruiter also said to tweak my resume slighty in that hiring managers like to see metrics on resumes. For example I have previous ER experience so rather than just saying what my duties were "Take vital signs, Create orthopedic splints, Perform phlebotomy blah blah..." I edited to read "Managed multiple complex cases daily in a 200 bed ER seeing over 500 cases per day." "Provided care to a large and diverse patient population."
For Children's Dallas ? No you submit the letter on your own. If you're applying for Cook Children's in Ft Worth you need two separate rec letters and the person writing them has to submit them directly to the email provided. I don't know what will be available but anything that's open.
If it helps when I applied back in January I got a video screening form the day the applications closed on the 31st and was told if you were chosen for an in person interview it would be from Feb 17-19 so 2 weeks after applications closed. So interviews maybe will fall the week of May 18th- 24th. But that's just me guessing.

I filled the template out with all of the information from my resume and I'm not sure how to condense it to one page.. I'm on the struggle bus with that one
