Chico State University Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone.

I am planning on applying to Chico states' Nursing program for spring start. I just got my acceptance letter for the school itself, but have no yet applied to the program yet.

I just want to know about the school a little more. I wanted to see what everyone thinks about the city itself and the school, the good and the bad.

If you can just tell me your opinions about the academics, the staff, and faculty I would love to hear.

I would also appreciate what you think of the people and the city itself.

I have a tour scheduled for in a few weeks, but I really would like to hear what other people think too.

Thank you! :)

Thank you! maybe we will meet each other in real life soon!

You can do it! I took the teas until I had full points. ATI book definitely helps. I'll have 89 points all together. How do you guys have half points on some things? I mean for 88.5, where does the .5 come from?

Grade point equivalents section of the point guide (e.g. science grade of A- = 18.5 points). I hope to meet you guys this January!!!

Oh, gotcha! I was confused about that, because I had seen it on the cutoff page on Chico state's website as well. I know, that would be great! I'm so anxious to find out. It just seems like such a long time to wait, especially since school starts in January. Not much time for people from out of town to find housing. The cutoff last semester was 87 before alternates, 85 after. Makes me nervous! We pretty much have the same score, so we will have to keep each other updated. Have you finished your application yet?

I submitted my NursingCAS application last week. I'm not looking forward to this wait either, finding a place in such short notice might be challenging. I did the "virtual" advising session yesterday and they said that they're hoping the NursingCAS system makes doing the admissions faster since they don't have to review individual transcripts, documents, etc., so I am reallllllly hoping that means they will have it figured out by mid-late Nov. It's snowing here today so I'm anxious to get the heck out! I'm sick of snow!

Ahhh you just made my day with that news!! Did they say they think they'll notify us sooner, or just that they'd finish sooner? I'm going to one tomorrow morning as well.

She was kinda vague, but it sounded like they would notify us sooner. Maybe pick their brains some more tomorrow and keep us updated :D

I most definitely will. I'm sure transcripts are what take the longest, so NursingCAS definitely helps. I would love to find out in November! That would be awesome. The cutoff has never been at an 88 or higher, but last semester got up pretty high compared to the last few years. Spring isn't supposed to be as bad so we will see.

I still havent submitted my application yet. I still need to take the teas a 3rd time. I'm so nervous. Can one of you just lend me your brain? Haha Just kidding. Do you know if alot of people were planning on applying this year? I know it's just going to get harder and harder since most schools don't even accept for spring start anymore. I'm really hoping to get in now so that I don't have to compete next semester where EVEN MORE people will be applying because there are no more spring starts. AHHHH. I'm going so crazy and stressing out.

I'm looking for housing right now and it's a pain. I'm hoping a find a place before January starts. I'm planning on going to Chico State regardless of whether or not I get into nursing, because I need a change of environment and I love the atmosphere up there. I just really hope I get in though. We definitely need to keep each other updated though!

At the advising session they said about 120-150 applications are received for the spring, last fall they received closer to 200, but ended up accepting 38 students off the wait-list. I think most people apply to more than one school, but I'm glad you'll be attending Chico State either way! I really love the area. I've lived in LA (and surrounding suburbs), San Diego, Rancho Cucamonga, Mammoth, and Chico and Chico is definitely my favorite (followed by Mammoth with a close second).

Maybe you can squeeze in a CNA course over a weekend (if you don't have health-care experience points) ? You can get a point just for having the certificate.

Wow that's alot of people. Ahhh.

I was actually looking into CNA a couple of months ago just to get started somewhere, but I didn't know if that would change what I had to do to get into a program or not so I didn't wanna get a certification and complicate the application. Haha.

I currently work as a home care aid for autistic children and I'm hoping they give me a point for it.

Right now the only thing that can improve my points is the TEAs test.

Jenny, did you re-take the TEAS yet?
