Are you taking a Chem course? If so, most instructors will have a specific book they request you to buy.
I'm guessing maybe you're going to CLEP/test out of Chem and are looking for a book to study by?
Yes, I'm thinking about taking the CLEP exam.

The clep chemistry study book.
Then look at the library for books that introduce or expand on the concepts you find in the clep study book. Usually I find a selection of Chem for dummies types and text book types at both the school libraries and the public libraries.
