Anyone else getting ready to apply for the 2018 nursing program?

Hi everyone. So I just had a meeting with my nursing advisor, trying to get a jump on next year as I don't think my chances are good for 2018. But I got some info. Sounds like they are still working on replacing 2 instructors. Then pls on 48 students (she was hesitant to tell me this). I confirmed next year will nothabe alternate points I have the new application. They will take bi-231 for points next year and will eliminate the computer science class. The new max pints will be 335. Good luck everyone! There are some amazing scores here!

Next year they will be taking biology 231 for points. They have eliminated the computer science class and there will be no alternate points. The max points for next year will nev335. I had a feeling it would be tomorrow too because last year it was on May 1st and the year before that was May 4th, both 2-3 after the last day to appeal your score. Hopefully they surprise us! I'm going crazy ! When I saw that you guys had posted something I was really hopeing it would say emails started to go out haha

I wish! I don't understand why this year is so much harder to figure out! Ugh. They seem more behind at each milestone.

I am still (naively) hoping that we get surprised with early letters. I'm an optimist. Ha!

I am glad that they are considering BI231 rather than the CIS class because that class was the biggest waste of time and minimally relevant. I hope that you get in this year! If not, best of luck next year! How did you do in BI231?

My guess as to why it's taking a lot longer this year.....They have an instructor retiring this year and the application process to replace that teacher just closed as of April 28 per the employment section of their website. Hiring another teacher is the difference between accepting 48 vs 40 students into the program because legally each clinical instructor can only have 8 students per clinical site.

Oh that completely makes sense. Hopefully they find a good replacement for that instructor. It seems that it is difficult to find nursing instructors at all. Thanks for the information!

It is hard to find new instructors. It requires a masters in nursing and it's pays less than say a hospital.

That's what I thought. It is so unfortunate. There wouldn't be such a shortage if we had the ability to train more. But until teaching is more valued financially, that most likely will not happen.

Hey, just a heads up, they should be replacing 2 instructors this year. The skills lab instructor and a clinical/theory instructor are both retiring. A theory instructor is movong to skills vut they still have to try to get 2.

I've gotten two texts that letters started going out! One of them from a previous classmate that told me they didn't get in.

Do they not send all the letters at the same time? I don't have an email yet!

Has anyone gotten an acceptance letter yet??

I just checked my email.. nothing yet ! But glad they started to go out! So nervous now!
