Chattanooga state rn fall 2016 hopefuls?

Published

I was just wondering if there is anyone else hoping to get in to Chattanooga State's RN Program for 2016? Looking for a group of members willing to share our experiences, concerns and progress while hopefully becoming the Nursing Cohort for fall 2016!

I know what you mean r618. If it helps at all, I think I'm about a frustration level ahead of you and it's probably a bit more angered, but also a bit more resolved and patient.

I'm personally not too hopeful on an email by tomorrow despite what their webpage says, especially after another poster commented that they hadn't even set a date to review the applications. I suppose there is a point at which they absolutely HAVE to get the applications processed or risk not having a program next year (and therefore their jobs). In my mind that date is somewhere in early June, so I've just tried to focus my mind on that timeframe since their timeframe keeps changing. It actually helps a bit.

I just worry that if we get into the program, that this is what we can expect. Can you imagine if you were in the program already and something happened and you were waiting for an answer from them and they kept sliding the date back?

I should start thinking about a way later date, too. I'm really just irritated. I sympathize with them since they had a staff change, but I feel like they should've been more prepared for this since they knew it was coming.

Families tied to my job (babysitting/nanny) keep asking about my availability past the summer and I can't give them an answer because of this. That's frustrating as well.

I'll try to shift my thoughts elsewhere hope for the best!

I feel like they should have been better prepared too. I've worked in education before so I do know that there's always A LOT more going on than what it seems like to an outsider. At this point though it would have to be some kind of perfect storm going on for them to be as far behind as what jerrica said they were. (and those perfect storms do happen occasionally).

At this point though, I feel like it may be something other than the new application director -- like something big has happened and it's affecting the entire nursing department and is a higher priority than processing applications. Something like some lawsuit or scrambling to find new clinical sights or something. Regardless, we'll likely never truly know the reason(s) for the delay. But we will get notified eventually.

That's very true. I feel like they should make another public announcement/update on the website if the 19th doesn't hold true..if not, I will probably call Wednesday to see if there is anything new they can tell us.

R618,

Are you working this semester and summer? Do you plan on continuing working while in the program?

You can look at the available classes online to get an idea of what the school schedule would be. I believe it's 9-4 on Mondays, 8-3? On wednesday and then either tThu or Fri 0630-1430. Check those dates and times though, but they're probably close to that. That's just for ns119 and doesn't include any co-reqs.

Thanks for the reminder schedules are posted!

I currently babysit avg 25 hrs/wk and it's exhausting. I will be 17 hrs or so during the summer til August 5th. Since I'm fortunate enough not to have to work during school I won't keep anything extremely regular unless I discover I can handle it. My main dilemma is whether or not to tell these families I'm available on the days we won't have school (if we're accepted). So, I don't know about working during school at this point.

Judging by the quietness of this thread today, I'm assuming noone received an email about program acceptance today. Their website still says they'll notify us today, for whatever that is worth.

Did anyone hear anything new? Especially those that are still enrolled this semester and closer to the rumor mill?

Hi I'm new on this page but I am enrolled currently this semester at Chatt state and our micro teacher told us that we would not hear anything before the 24th of April. The suspense is also killing me but with all of the exams and finals that I have coming up I am able to put my application email aside for now. Good luck to all!

I just called and the lady said they were just told all letters will be out by the 1st week of May. Hopefully that means they will send them before that, but at least May isn't that far away if they're sent during the 1st week. Not much longer!

I sure hope they stick with this date - that's only 2 more weeks. I (foolishly?) looked at their academic calendar yesterday & saw that final grades were due Friday, 6 May at 10 am, so I'm thinking they should be out by then. Much of the staff who meet to review the applications will be gone for summer break after that date.

2 weeks isn't bad, so I hope they stick with it too. The lady was very friendly and sounded like she was in a positive mood, so maybe that's a good sign! Then again, the people there that I've communicated with have always been friendly.

The website now says we will be notified by the 29th, so I'm hoping that is the correct date. It would be nice to know something next week instead of 1.5-2 weeks.
