Hi there! I got accepted too. See you in January!
Hi ltran. Glad to meet a fellow spring 14 cohort. I am so excited and nervous to begin this program. How far are you with all the documents? I drove to CDU this morning to drop off my award letter. How about you?
I still need to send that in, but I'm not in a hurry because I'm not taking out loans the first year. The interest is too high for me. Did you take a look at the textbook list? Yikes, I wonder if we really need all of that. Debating if I want to use just the e-book or should I get a physical book too. I think I study better off physical books (I'm old school that way). But the cost all add up.
Lucky you! I will be living off loans for the next 2 years! Yes, text books list was too overwhelming! I do like physical books as well, i study better by high lighting and writing on the book. I still need to do CPR, and the health immunization records, tho i send the form to my doctor already. Are you from california?
Yes I'm from California, although it's still quite a commute from where I'm at. Where are you from?
I tried making some rhyme and reason to the textbook list. It seems like the online course things comes with an access code. And when I look up the e-book for that, it says it's free with access code. I'm trying to figure out if they're talking about the same access code. Would be nice to just buy the online course one and have the e-book for free. That will reduce a lot of cost. I might have to learn how to make e-books work for me if that's the case.
I live in LA, about 30 minutes drive to CDU. I agree with you about the text books, I also wonder if we really need to get all the books. I checked the school catalog, it looks like ATI Books are part of the fees charge to us already. So I do wonder if those are different the online class/books, or would they provide them to us.
Are you working or will be working? I am quitting my full time job to concentrate in this program. The last time I went to CDU I was able to speak with few of the current students in ELM-MNS, they said it is for sure an intense program, passing grade for all nursing class is B-. This scares me! Lol.
I am quitting my full time job too. What sucks is that I just got promoted and a huge 8% raise this month! So I have to give it all up, but it'll be worth it in the long run.
I was able to reach 2 of the professors and one of them said that since students are buying their own books this term, he's not requiring the online course. So I'm sure a lot of these items listed are things we don't need. I'm just wondering if we need everything new or we can buy old books or rent them. My friend who went through nursing school said that ebooks helped her a lot when she had to write papers. So I think I'm going to get ebooks. Just wondering if we can get ebooks for the ones that are listed as physical books.
Anyways, for Nursing 516 we only need the main textbook. For 520, we need the USMLE and Jarvix ab manual, pocket companion and the textbook. Hope this helps. I'm assuming we only need the main textbook for 500. Still waiting to hear about 511. That's the class with the most textbooks!
I was thinking maybe we can exchange emails so we can contact each other regarding class? I tried to pm you, but I can't find the pm button on your profile for some reason. Pm me if you're interested. Or we can keep going on here... but it doesn't really seem like the right place to go on and on about our classes.
Sounds good to me. Let me figure out how to activate my private message. I am a new user, so that could be the reason.
I think I figured out how to send a private message. Please check your inbox. I'll wait for your email.
