Charity Nursing Fall 2016-leave time

Hi!

I've been reading some different topics, but wanted to see if I could get some answers on a question. I'm starting my first semester of the RN program this fall and my first child is due in early October. I let Charity know this summer to ask if I should defer or not. They said that they have had students do it in the past and that I wouldn't have much time off, but it's doable. She wasn't really able to give me an answer on how much time is allowed. I've read that you are only allowed two absences. Does anyone have any insight on this or know classmates who had a baby during their first semester?

Well, it all depends. What is your clinical rotation like? Did you take the pharm class over the summer? Also, do you know anyone going into the same team as you that could possibly record the lectures for you?

Hey! So a little more info: since its nursing 1 I have clincals on campus tuesday-friday and pharm on Thursdays. I don't know anybody yet, but I'm sure I will by the due date!

Ok, so in nursing 1 for clinicals you are only on campus for like the first two weeks. Then you go to a nursing home then the hospital. I don't remember the exact time frame so it will depend on if you're at the hospital at that time. Also do you have any test scheduled around the due date? Because I'm sure you still have to show up for those regardless. I know for lecture attendance is usually not mandatory.

Have you asked the school administration office how much time you will be able to take off after having your baby? This would be important. As a graduate of the Diploma program 30 years ago, I can tell you that Charity had very little tolerance for missed classes and clinicals.
