Channel Islands University vs Moorpark Community College

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi there,

I'm currently taking my prerequisite courses and application time is quickly approaching. These are the two schools I'm considering applying to. Both are equally as competitive to get into. Moorpark is a two year program leaving with my ASN while Channel Islands is a three year program leaving with a BSN (which is my overall goal). I've had some people say Moorpark's nursing program is far superior than Channel Islands and I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks? Thanks!

They are both great. I know people in both programs at the moment. I'm planning on doing Channel Islands dual enrollment if I get into Ventura this semester. I have heard that Ventura's program is actually better than both. Good luck!

Both are great schools. I’ve heard mixed things from people in all the local programs (Ventura, Moorpark, CI, etc). Everyone has differing opinions. In my opinion they’re all great programs with excellent pass rates. People I know in the industry swear Ventura is better than both, but CI is great because of the BSN. I’ll be applying everywhere. You can do an ADN to BSN bridge, and it does take a little extra time but if BSN is your goal sometimes that’s an easier route. With the ADN first, you’re still taking the NCLEX at the end. You can work in nursing while you apply/attend a BSN bridge program. I would consider applying to additional local schools, not just those two. Both are super competitive, and I know people who are currently on their 2nd or 3rd cycle of being waitlisted at Moorpark. It’s good to have options ?
