Hi All,
I am taking my last nursing class (Leadership) and we have to write a change paper that's due at the end of April. I'm trying to be proactive and start it now. I'm pretty much spent so coming up with an idea is tough and I have writers block. Anyway, we have to use theories of change and styles of leadership in order to analyze, plan, implement, and evaluate the change. And it has to be on an organizational problem.
I was thinking of delegation and how in some facilities UAPs are underutilized. This may free up the nurses so they aren't as overwhelmed. An example that the professor provided was a "shared sheet" which one facility used to standardize the info needed to give a good shift report.
Any advice or input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I think it really varies on the facility, scope for that facility, and how much the nurse is willing to delegate. Maybe a change that could be implemented is clear directions as to what the UAP can or cannot do and a check off sheet for charting to ensure that the task was done. But I'm pretty sure that's just normal care plan charting lol. Possibly daily updated care plans available to the UAP's. A shift log for anything new that happened during the prior or current shift so everyone is in the now, able to go back and read for the days you were gone (only seen it used at 2 of my past facilities that were made available to UAP)
