Just me again, always trying to think of ways to increase my chances of getting into OB. I currently work cardiac stepdown and I am getting a little bored. There are frequently Med/Surg and ER positions in my hospital and I was thinking that these are usually the types of backgrounds people like to see for L&D.
I'm paranoid that my cardiac background makes me appear too specialized d/t the MANY apps I have put in to no avail or people with experience are getting these positions. Wondering if I switched to either of these positions, if it would be looked upon more favorably than cardiac experience.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I have taken 2 different jobs at my place of business to get where I wanted to be, and one of them I absolutely didnt want to be in!! Take the leap!

I wouldn't make the change as a way of increasing your chances of getting into L&D (I don't think one would be better than the other), but if you're bored and looking to broaden your knowledge and experience, I'd definitely go for it!
