Hello,

I just wanted to get an update about Chandler-Gilberts nursing program. I was just accepted into the accelerated program that starts in May and wanted to get a feel for what it's like. I know they have had a lot of poor reviews in the past so I wanted to see if anything has changed. CGCC is part of my scholarship and I would really like to get the best experience possible out of the program so any info would help.

Congratulations on the scholarship and on getting into the accelerated program.

The most objective way to know if a nursing school is good or not is to check the schools NCLEX pass rates on the Arizona State Board of Nursing website. Congrats on getting accepted! I am graduating from CGCC in May. I know there have been a lot of poor reviews, I was concerned as a transfer student (I transferred from the Gateway LPN program) as well. However, I can say that my experiences have been positive. Yes, there are negatives and some instructors are better than others. However, I have to say, a lot of the complaints I hear about at CGCC were echoed verbatim when I was going thru Gateway. Nursing school is just hard and they don't coddle you AT ALL!! If you study, work hard and look for good experiences in clinicals you will succeed. Start doing NCLEX questions now and continue to do so throughout school. Those will help immensely as the tests are not like anything you have taken before. Also, do the questions on the evolve sight. I used NCLEX questions to study for all my tests and HESI and did very well. You just have to get into a whole new mindset.

Chandler Gilbert is a joke. I am sorry to those who are going there and have to go there. I have a friend going there right now and there is some shady stuff going on. If people tell you get the heck out of there, DO IT!! Im serious!! People who say they transferred over have no idea if they havent gone through all blocks at that school. From everyone I know who went there, they say after block 2 its cake, but untill then before prepared for Hell! Literally! Keep your nose in the books, and dont trust ANYONE!! My friend regrets ever going there, but it was her last choice!

an extra note.. Just because the state board states the passing rate for the NCLEX, you have to look at the college pass rates... and the actual ones! The fact that this school is the lowest of all the maricopa colleges is a point in itself to be looked into by future students and the state board.
