I have been waitlisted at my top choice which is a BSN - DNP program ranked around 50ish by US News. I'm number 6 and there are 12 spots. Ouch! I didn't get an interview at my last choice, and I've got two more irons in the fire. Wondering if those more familiar with the admissions process has an idea of whether I might still stand a chance of getting off the wait list given my relative position.
Thank you!!

Sorry but not likely- if you think about it 50% of those accepted would have to decline their position. If that were the case is that really a good program- 1 or 2 declines not unusual- 6 of 12- highly unusual.

When does the program start? If it starts in January or May, not likely. If it doesn't start till August, I think you have a fighting chance. I was waitlisted for a program with 12 spots. Think about 25-50% of the people will likely accept a spot, but be holding out for other program interviews and acceptances. If they pull from the waiting list for 4 spots, and two people on the wait list are no longer interested in the program, then you're up!
So, while I wouldn't absolutely count on it, it's not as dire as it seems.
