Chances of getting into CRNA vs MD/DO School

Published

Hello everyone,

I've been a nurse for two years, one of which is in ICU Trauma MICU/SICU. I am considering medical school vs NP and CRNA. I have a B.S. in biology (all preq complete) and BSN. I have not taken my MCATs yet…

Unfortunately, I don't believe my GPA is competitive enough.

Biology GPA 3.0

BSN 3.2

Do I have a shot at medical school?

Currently 25 years old, don't want to be in school forever. Debating if it is worth the stress, long hours, and loans....

Thanks!

Didn't you state you were beginning NP school in another thread? I'm beginning to think the real question you should be asking isn't about chances of getting in but the question of what you want to do. If you really are beginning NP school, why did you even jump to apply if you weren't even sure between CRNA and NP let alone APRN vs MD. All of which are vastly different careers. You may need more exposure before jumping into something. Asking us on here isn't going to give you the answers you need- only you can figure that out. It doesn't matter about getting in or not- regardless of grades now, you can retake classes and strengthen your resume in other aspects to get into whatever discipline you'd like. Honestly, I had better grades in the same classes as my friends who went into med school (I have a bachelor's in biology) but I choose to go to nursing school and NP school for many reasons- mainly it fit what I wanted out of life more.
