what are my chances at chamberlain?

Published

Hey,

This question is for people that know about the Chamberlain College of Nursing Addison Campus. I applied today with a 3.02/4 gpa and a HESI A2 entrance score of 91%. My adviser, Angela, says that both of these are good to get into the school. I especially like the entrance score, but hope my 3.02 doesn't hurt me. I am applying for summer 11.

what would you guys say about my chances?

It's a for profit school. If you have a pulse and the ability to pay they will find a way to get you in. Your stats aren't bad, have you looked into other programs that are not for profit in your area? Chamberlain, WCC and the like charge alot of money for a RN program, and that kind of debt is a real risk with the job market being in the condition it is in.

Not trying to put down your choice, everyone takes the same NCLEX afterall. But I am an advocate for understanding student debt loads.

Thanks for the response.. Is a for profit school a private school so in other words a university of Illinois would b a not for profit? Also I come from a family nice enough to pay for any and all costs

Private does not mean for profit. JHU, Harvard, Yale etc not-for-profit. ITT, DeVry, Drexel, Strayer, Kaplan, etc are for profit and very concerned with keeping their stockholders happy by earning profit (I don't hold any school stock (ok there might be some in my mutual funds, but I don't hold any shares outright) but I do look for 7-10% gains just like any other investor and that really puts companies understrain). It's cool that your family is going to foot the costs, and that being the case I wish you luck in Chamberlain.

You will get in for sure.

Yes I applied to Addison and got accepted. My A2 was 85; GPA was a little higher than yours. Don't worry about getting in - you're a great candidate and I'm almost positive you will get accepted. They accept 110-120 students. Good luck!

Hi digitiminimi

I believe I read a post you wrote about you attending ResU spring 2011. I just wanted to know did u not like ResU or what was your reasoning for transferring to Chamberlain? I ask because I am trying to decide between the two schools and would like some information from someone who has delt with both. Thanks in advance and good luck with school.
