Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me a little bit about the Chambersburg hospital in Pennsylvania? Anyone who works there now or has in the past? What is good and bad about the place? I'm currently trying to decide between a few hospitals and would appreciate everyone's feedback.
Thanks,

I know a little. I work about 30 miles or so away. Do you live in the area or are you relocating?
I live a good 3 and 1/2 hours away so I would need to relocate to Chambersburg. What kinds of things do you know about the hospital?

I know they are a smaller hospital and that they do send their "higher risk or more seriously ill" to other hospitals, i.e. York. Nice, small town community though.

Hi,
I interviewed there about a year ago. Depending on what floor/unit, they may not have CNAs. They are unionized and wages seemed fairly decent--I maxed out the experience and I think they offered $29 and some change. At the time, they only had nights and I wanted PT days. The story kept changing with how many hours I would be required to work. I have a co-worker who has friends that worked there (yeah, I know, take that with a grain of salt) that accepted the sign-on bonus, were miserable, resigned and had to pay back the bonus. Who know how true that is?!?! I wasn't terribly impressed and took a job across the border in MD. I have a current co-worker who started there a few weeks ago in the ER and seems to like it. I would definately ask about the CNAs!! Good luck!!
I wanted to add that I believe their benefits are pretty good.
The area is pretty nice. I don't know if I'd move to go there. It snows a good bit in the winter, at least compared to baltimore where I came from.I am about 30 miles to the east. Their wages are comparable to ours, less than nearby MD. I think they have about 200 beds, while my hospital has about 100. I think the parking is free. I had heard several years ago that the med-surg units were pretty grueling there. OB has midwives and I think maybe some FP's, as well as OB's. I believe, but wouldn't swear that they have a number of Mennonite and even some Amish patients. Personally, I enjoy working with these patients. The community is rural, but there are some folks who work in MD and Harrisburg who commute. Why not ask for a share day? You'd have to get a motel room, but if you are thinking of moving three hours away, it could be worth it. Good luck!
