I am currently in the process of applying to numerous online FNP programs. I have been accepted to chamberlain college and am waiting for my response from St. Joseph's. Any one have advice related to either program? I am concerned that Chamberlain is a for-profit college, yet on the other hand I am concerned St. Joseph's program is rated #295 on US News Week reviews. Both are accredited so I know that is important. ANY ADVICE ? or any response from people at either program would be very much appreciated :).
also side note, i am originally for Mass, but currently reside in VA, I plan on moving back to mass eventually, and was just wondering if anyone understood why chamberlain does not accept resident students from mass.

Hello!
I am a current FNP student at Chamberlain. If you are employed, see if your institution has a financial agreement with Chamberlain, or has a tuition reimbursement program. I am fortunate to have both of these options available for use simultaneously. With that being said, the price to attend Chamberlain is extremely comparable to the local brick and mortar programs. Also, I work for a world renowned and nationally ranked hospital, so I am not concerned one bit about job placement after program completion. Feel free to PM if you have more questions!
Thanks for the response ! I'm having a hard time picking between the two schools. Do you feel like the 8 weeks allotted for each course is too intense ? Are you going full time or part time ? I work full time and am also trying to figure out if an 8 week break in between would be beneficial or not.

I went to st joes. If you search here you will find conversations from 2010. The program just recently started. I was in the first or second year. I liked the self taught, self progression. Not sure it prepares me that well.

To athomas2244 how do you feel about Chamberlain FNP program. I see a lot of negative comment about for profit sch and employer discarding /disregarding the certificate.Do you feel you are have the necessary tools at chamberlain to further your FNP? Does the program at chamberlain good for working full time adult?
To lauraobie1289: Have you start your FNP at chamberlain?

Hi,
I am in the FNP program online with Chamberlain College of Nursing. Overall, I feel that the program is comprehensive and good; however, they do not assist with location of practicum sites or preceptors for clinical hours. I have also had some negative feedback from physicians with regards to taking an online program v.s. a grounded University. In the end, I will receive the same degree, and once I have passed my national certification and achieved State licensure, I do not think that it will make a significant difference. Online courses are more flexible and doable for a working mother.
