Chamberlain Reviews

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Hi everyone,

I reside in Houston and I'm considering the Pearland campus, but I've come across so many negative reviews that it's making nervous. I'm torn between Chamberlain and for my prelicensure BSN. I have completed my pre reqs as well. I'm considering Chamberlain over WGU due to the opportunity to go in person since the Pearland location is offering night/weekend classes and I feel I would thrive better in an in person environment rather than be strictly online for lecture. I have read some good reviews as well, but the bad ones are pretty bad. I've seen everything from money issues, learning concerns, job placement, instructors and staff. But this has been blanketed over Chamberlain as a whole and the Houston campus. I'm having a harder time finding information directly related to the Pearland campus.

So if anyone would be willing to give me the nitty gritty on the Pearland location, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I am at the north Brunswick campus in New Jersey so I do not know about your potential campus but I find chamberlain very helpful. They have tons of review sessions tutoring open office hours etc. I think a lot of poor reviews are from people that failed or really struggled and didn’t take advantage of the help. I also think people expect to just know everything from a lecture. They complain that they feel like they are teaching themselves but as someone who has completed an LPN program nursing takes a lot of work by yourself. You need to study until you understand topics and attempt other resources when you don’t understand. You can’t succeed with memorization due to NCLEX style questions. The best thing I ever did in my lpn program is to understand hour to answer these types of questions. I read the first few chapters that most don’t read in the NCLEX books and gained a wealth of knowledge on how to answer questions even when I do not understand the topic.

I am glad that you like your program. If  "tons of review sessions" are offered I do wonder why the information cannot be learned from assigned readings and the lecture. Quality not quantity.

People learn in different ways.  Some people are visual learners, so people are hands on and others can get all they need from listening to lecture.  I found that it is required to do the assigned readings.  In all my adult learning I have been an A student, but to keep that A it has taken the extra work.  I take what I get from the lecture and the readings and figure out how it works together.  Plus I am a big "why" person.  Why does it work like that?  So I do pursue those questions on my own.

Hello, I am also working full time in a Hospital currently and applied to the Pearland campus. I am in your same boat with all the confusion. I looked at Originally but with their clinical schedule I wouldnt be able to work which is not an option for me. Could you give me some insight into what you think of the program so far and how that is going with work as well?

Did either of you start this program? What has been your experience if so?

@peanutbutterbananathis is really helpful.

I am hoping to apply for Spring as I am still working through prerequisites.  How are the prerequisite classes there? I worry about maintaining an 85% on the prerequisites that arent science related
