Thank you in advance.
Hey. I have been doubling up on my classes so far. I plan to continue to do this through December. It has been very manageable . I say go for it. I did just finish my BSN in May so I’m definitely in the school mode. I’m also wanting to know out the 6 months of the program so it doesn’t take as long.
Thank you for your reply. That is good to know. I will continue to take 2 classes at a time. I start in September. I am finishing the BSN portion in 3 weeks! I am excited for the grad- portion of the program. Is there alot of papers due in the first 5 classes? Do you know they won't allow you to double up past the first 5 classes?
Hi all, I am also starting the FNP on August 31st, 2020 at Chamberlain. I was thinking of doubling up the first 5 classes. But for the first session I’m only taking 1 class to see how it goes. I will start doubling up from the November session. Is it manageable taking 2 courses per session? I have a full time job (35 hrs) and I have a part time home care job. I should be able to do some assignments/homework at my full time job since I am an RN at a mental health adult day program. I was told that we can only double up for the first 5 classes, the rest we have to take just one class each? Is that right ?
Thanks
LOL I was told we start clinicals for the last 5 FNP track classes. Oh well I’m sure we’ll find out when we actually start the clinicals. I’m only taking one class for the sep session and planning on taking two starting November. Let me know how it goes for you for sept taking 500 and 501 together.

I was told the same thing. I start the same day as you! I am taking 500 and 501.
I was told that we will start clinical hours after the first 5 classes and will busy.
Clinicals are not after the first 5 classes but that's when you have pharm and patho and many people were not doing well and they made it so you are not allowed to double up past these classes.
I completed this program about a year ago. Indeed, it was pretty challenging, but this program had prepared well. Immersion weekend has taught me a lot and get to do some hands-on skills with complete head-to-toe assessment in front of the professor which was somewhat intimidating, but this the critical skills that every NP student should have to be mastered before starting the clinical rotation.
For core courses, you can double it up as long as you have enough time to study and respond to the discussion board, numerous write up, etc. I think someone who does not work or only work part-time can handle the load. I quit my full-time RN job once I started FNP track course and clinical rotation. I think it was the best decision I've ever made although financial sacrifice and burden have scared a little. Just remember to follow the grading rubrics very closely and don't be creative when it comes to written assignments. Follow instruction carefully and start the project/large assignment early. You will be fine and get through it, it will all worth it at the end. Good luck!
thanks for your information. Did you have any issues with chamberlain? How was finding your preceptors, did they try to help at all? Did you past the test on your first try? Did you have any issues with finding a job? Which setting do you work in? Thanks again

Hello,
Did you have any issues with chamberlain?
-No, I have not had any issue with Chamberlain including technical difficulties, professor communication, and curriculum in general.
How was finding your preceptors, did they try to help at all?
-I had to secure clinical sites/preceptors on my own which was challenging and stressful. However, this is not just limited to Chamberlain and other FNP program students still have to contribute some time to find their preceptors with minimal assistance from the school especially the online program. I actively involved in the local APRN group and tried to get connected with NPs/MDs/DOs as much as possible and also visited numerous clinics with my resume as well. I did a clinical rotation in internal medicine with NP, a pediatric clinic with PNP, Gyn clinic with WHNP, home visit primary care with NP, then primary care with MD.
Did you past the test on your first try?
-Yes, I think Chamberlain definitely helped me prepare for the board exam with Hollier's review course and through entire didactic portion of course. I took the exam about 2 weeks after finishing the program.
Did you have any issues with finding a job? Which setting do you work in?
-No, I applied to many different settings and regions. I received about 3 offers and took a surgical NP position. I do have my own penal fo patients per day in an outpatient clinic including new patients and pre/post patients. I work with other two surgeons and another experienced. I am planning to start RNFA program which was recommended by my employer. They are willing to pay for the program.
@Surgical ENT NPyou have been very helpful in providing your experience at Chamberlain University. I"m considering the online FNP program they offer but I've read mix reviews. I would like to ask you few questions regarding the program if you wouldn't mind connecting via e-mail. Thanks!
