Hi folks,
Anyone else starting CCN FNP program in January?? Would like to make some connections!
Thanks!
Hey sbeckett09, I'm one class behind you... I take Epidemiology in January and start Patho in March. My main concern about the program-- especially in the core courses-- is the short semesters. Take patho for example, how are we going to learn all of that information in 8 weeks?? Have you seen that book? It's huge! I think I'm going to register for patho this week and drop the course just so I can get the syllabus and start reading.
Morgan,
I'm with you, I'm in Epidemiology and advanced role in Jan then Pharm and patho then assessment like you. I like your idea of registering and then dropping to get the syllabus but will you get charged for that? I too am a bit concerned about the short time frame of those courses and hear from those that have taken it that they wish it was a 16 week course. There is so much to learn in such a short time. Keep me posted. If your not already on the FB page join, it helps. Can't post site on here but just look it up on FB. We might even be in the same class in Jan.
Hey 1TraumaNurse, no I don't think you get charged for registering and dropping a course because I did it last Summer just so I could get the syllabus for research ; ). I tried to register today for patho, but it wouldn't let me. I guess we can't do that now because we're only allowed to take 1 course at a time in the FNP core courses. Are you friends with anyone or know anyone that's had patho recently that might pass on the syllabus? Good luck in Epidemiology!
Hello all! I'll be starting in May. Uber excited, but a tad anxious as I'm trying to figure out how it'll go working FT nights with the other load of responsibilities I have. I can do it! Anyone else a May start?!
I am starting in May too! Just out of curiosity did you apply to UTA as well and if so what made you chose Chamberlain over that considering all the local state school we have here. I feel as if I have been battling internally trying to figure out if employers would care in the end as long as we have our certifications?
I got my BSN from UTA. I also live in the DFW area I am in my fourth class so far I picked chamberlains because they have one class at a time for eight weeks at the time.when I started UtA they did not have one class at a time but now they do still prefer chamberlains. UTA admissions process is slow it aggravated me waiting chamberlains in admission process is faster which I really appreciate it at that time. And I love that every eight weeks for each classes versus at Uta some of of their classes are five weeks and 10weeks.I hope that helps

Hey newgradbms, I don't think I would worry about that. Don't let people worry you because you would not be attending a brick and mortar program. I know here in Florida even the brick and mortar programs are almost all online. I work in Gainesville, Fl which is about 2 hours north of Tampa Bay (home of University of South Florida) and several nurses at my place of work attend USF practically all online. They hardly have ever had to go to class. Even their clinicals were arranged in the Gainesville area. So my point is I believe you get what you put into it.
