I am researching online MSN programs and have narrowed it down to 2-3 and I was wandering if anyone has gone through the Chamberlain College online program for FNP. If so any advice would be helpful. Did you like the program? If not Why? Would you recommend an online program for a MSN?

Chamberlain's FNP program is fairly new (I don't think they have graduated a class yet). I am not a student there but I did take several classes there for my BSN. I had no issues with the school other than the cost which was why I transferred. I am currently attending a B&M program for AGNP only because I did not want the headache of finding my own preceptor. I do not think there is anything wrong with attending an online MSN program (although there are many on this forum who would disagree--numerous threads on that topic). You only get out what you put in and that goes for any program--traditional or online. Additionally, there are good and programs in both formats. So I am not sure why there is so much debate on the subject. In the end, you gotta do what is right for you. Good luck to you!!
If you post this in the APN forum, you may get more responses.

yeah the FNP program is admitting students for jan i think its their 1st batch. I am currently in the end of the BSN program and so far o love it. its costly but manageable. Its a shame that the NP programs dont accept NYS residents.

I started Chamberlain's FNP program in September. It's been a great experience so far... the classes are well organized, the professors are very helpful, and the school has a great student services department. The cost was not much more than my local state college. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. :)

Hi SPJJMommy,
I just sent you a PM, but anyway would like to like to know how the FNP class or classes you have experienced so far are structured. Do they put more emphasis on discussion board participation or written assignments? Could you describe the level of difficulty of the classes so far?
I have sent in my application 2 weeks ago and am waiting to see if I get accepted or not. The reviews I have read about this school are mostly positive so far but was just wondering about the "doability" of the classes.
Any info would be helpful and thanks in advance.
I just read your PM - thanks very much for the info. It was indeed very helpful! Best of luck in your studies and hopefully we can be schoolmates!

hello spjjmommy..
just wondering about chamberlain's fnp program. i'm sched to start in march and im curious on how it is structured. you can pm message me also.
Thanks!
Chamberlain's classes are 8 weeks long, and so far they are all structured pretty much the same: two discussion posts due every week and a paper or some type of project due every other week. There is also a lot of assigned reading to do every week as well. It's been challenging, but definitely doable. Good luck to you! :)

Hi everyone I just recently got accepted to the FNP program at Chamberlain (as of yesterday) and will be starting in May! I should have been starting in March but my VA loan is taking too long to process so I won't be ready...anyway...I was thinking about increasing my work load and taking 2 classes per session. Has anyone done this? Also, I read someone's post about the curriculum and it was mentioned that there are 2 discussions per week due as well as a paper due every 2 weeks? what about exams? Any information would be appreciated..not sure what to expect seeing how this is my first online approach to education! thanks!
I am currently taking two classes per term in Chamberlain's FNP program... it's very challenging, but it's been doable for me. I have three young children and work 20-30 hours per week. Most of the classes have two discussion posts due each week, and you will also have to respond to other students' posts throughout the week as well. There is also a LOT of reading and writing papers. There haven't been any exams... a couple of quizzes here and there, but mostly just writing papers. I'm taking two classes at a time until I get to Advanced Pathophysiology (which will be the next term for me), and then I will be taking one class at a time for the rest of the program. Good luck! :)
That was my exact plan! after looking at the curriculum I figured the first 6 courses could be doubled up. Thanks for the post! Another question..is the reading material online or do you actually order text books? I can't wait until my start date!
