Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Hello guys I plan on applying to chamberlain for the fall 2016 in Miramar. I am finishing my AA from MDC this summer , so I have some credits that can be transferable, just wondering anyone else starting this fall 2016 at the Miramar campus?:)

I'm start in the fall as well. Just waiting to take my HESI

I usually Do Not recommend for-profit post secondary schools but I personally know several nurses in Southern Florida who went to this school and actually graduated from it. Therefore, they were satisfied with the experience. With that said, I have to tell you that asking the nurses with success stories is but one way and not the gold standard and only one component in the process of evaluation. You also need unbiased facts regarding graduation rates over a 4-6 year period as well as retention rates. How the clinical component works and without question the cost. I have checked collegescorecard.edu.gov and while they evaluate the several other Chamberlain Colleges of nursing in Florida and throughout the country, the facility in Miramar is curiously missing. So to vet them you will have to ask the school the above questions and more and hope for candid answers. Remember this is a for-profit corporation and you are their customer so make sure they satisfiy your inquiries.

All I can tell you is I don't hear complaints about Chamberlain except that it is very expensive. Collegescorecard provides tuition for most of the schools except Miramar but you should be able to extrapolate that information from the listed schools as well as ask them directly. Make sure they tell you about all additional ongoing fees as they can add up. Also know this is a non-competitive school so they will admit most applicants with access to job provided tuition reinbursement, federal loan money or post 9/11 VA benefits. The more due diligence you do, the better you will feel about this substantial investement of money and time.

Question: have you looked into the Community Colleges or Palm Beach State Colleges that offer nursing programs? They are substantially less money to attend and have very good reputations. But they do have waiting lists. But waitng will save you a lot of money. You don't want to be burdened by years of debt payback if at all possible because many people these days take 6 years to graduate and at Chamberlain that can be substantially over $100, 000. That's debt peonage in my estimation.

CAVEAT: DO NOT for a monent entertain the for-profits run by Education Management Corporation like South Univerversity or schools run by University Of Phoenix. They have low graduation and retention rates and are slowly financially melting down besides being incredibly expensive. So choose carefully. A lot of these folks no matter how kind hearted they sound are not your friends. Education today is more of a businees than anything else. Don't fall prey to those especially for-prodit schools who sell empty promises only to leave you stranded, in debt and without a degree.

Hello I'm going to check out chamberlain tomorrow ! Excited I went to west coast university today in doral very similar to chamberlain so looking forward to see my advisor tomorrow

Hello!

So I am strongly considering attending. I toured the campus and I really enjoyed it. I loved their SimCare center. The medical office I work in has seen a lot of Chamberlain graduates so they seem very legit but the price is very off-putting. Do you think it's worth dropping about $67,000 for BSN? I do put value in being able to finish in about 2 1/2 years (I have some college credits) but at the same time I would also like to get my MSN so I will be getting in debt for that as well. I know Nova has a RN to MSN program that may be better (it is 10 semesters to go from ASN-->MSN) -- I could get my ASN at Broward and do that and it may be significantly cheaper. But I don't know. I know I will get instant gratification from this.

What do you guys think? Why are you personally choosing Chamberlain?

Hey, @prettypenguin I'm choosing Chamberlain because I failed out of BC nursing 6wks. before graduation for 3 pts. So Chamberlain accepts 49 of my credits and I have the opportunity to test out of some of the nursing classes since I also have my LPN. So yeah its expensive, but to go on a wiat list at another school and do 2 years for an associate or do 2yrs and get a BSN in the process instead. I'd take the BSN and chamberlain is close to home and is the choice for me.

And update passed the hesi and I got accepted for Fall.

Congrats on passing and getting accepted!

I would private message you this since it's off-topic but I'm not sure how to so here goes. May I ask how did you like BC's program? I am assuming you have toured Chamberlain's campus already. How would you compare Chamberlain's facilities with BC's? I am really torn between the two. The two year BSN is very tempting but BC is just much better cost-wise.

@prettypenguin I private messaged you on my thoughts of the 2 schools.

Congrats on getting accepted at Chamberlain @Lav3nder_08 !! I was accepted for BC's LPN to RN Bridge Program that started this past May, but I gave up my seat. After orientation with the Dean, I was very discouraged about the way the program is run. I feel really comfortable with my decision to leave BC and look for a BSN Program instead. I'm thinking of starting in January 2017.

As a for-profit, doesn't everyone get accepted if they have the price of admission: $100, 000 dollars, a high school diploma, and no felony convictions?

Chamberlain doesn't cost $100,000.

And yes, all schools require that you're able to financially afford it in one way or another, no felonies and a diploma.

Hey is anyone going to orientation August 27 ????
