Good Evening,
Im scheduling my HESI exam to apply for the may application for chamberlain college of nursing in Houston and I'm taking the HESI at a different location for a cheaper price. Will my scores be transferable if im not taking it at Chamberlain? As long as its above the required score for the school it shouldn't be a issue to get my scores mailed? I don't want to schedule my test without knowing if it will be accepted. If anyone has an idea how it works please let me know
thanks

Hello,
I don’t know if you’ve taken your HESI yet, however I believe they do not accept any HESI scores that haven’t been taken with them. I did a campus tour + pre-evaluation with the advisor. I showed them my HESI scores and that’s when the advisor told me I had to retake the exam with them.
I suggest taking the test anyway, if you plan to apply to other schools. As they will need those scores. Because I don’t think Chamberlain’s HESI can be sent/transferred to other schools. Otherwise, don’t take the exam if you just want to apply to Chamberlain.
I hope that helps!

Hi good evening
I actually got my HESI Exam canceled due to the corona virus. The testing centers are closed until further notice so I guess I can take this time to study for my HESI Exam. I recently applied to a LVN program using my previous TEAS exam score. I get my results back next month if I get accepted in the program or not. I chose not to apply to Chamberlin because the cost of the program was so high and my HESI Exam being canceled. Hopefully I get accepted to the LVN program. They only take 45 at my school but due to the corona virus do you think they will accept more students due to the rapid need for nurses ?

You know what, I was actually thinking this the other day! This would be a perfect opportunity for schools to allow more students to be accepted into their programs. We need more health professionals (nurses specifically) to help aid in the manage of this pandemic or any other future medical threat we could encounter.I’m hoping Alvin Community College does this because I applied to their ADN nursing program. They accept about 40-ish students and put another 40 on the waitlist, I believe. The application deadline has been extended and I have no idea when we’ll be hearing back at this point. Maybe late May if things return to some form of normal soon.

Hi Chempansy
I hope that you get accepted into nursing school I tried applying there but I didn't meet the requirements so I chose to do LVN and progress from there. I would hope the programs would be aware of the times we are living and reconsider the amount of people that are admitted to their programs. The need for nurses is very adamant in the news. A lot of the nursing deadlines have been extended so hopefully we will hear soon from our programs

I considered LVN but a lot of the programs I looked at were like 1 year to 1 and 1/2. And I felt like it wasn’t the most beneficial for me. My goal is to get to RN (BSN specifically) sooner than later. I’d rather be in some program and be halfway done or almost done with it than be in an LVN program and pushing myself further back from my initial goal. Also, I’m just probably impatient haha. I was told by a coworker of mine who’s in an RN program that they allow you to sit for the LVN exam after some point of being in nursing school, and that will allow you to practice as an LVN for the time being until you graduate. Something I will definitely consider along the way. It seems better (for me) than starting an entire program for LVN. I’m close to finishing my first bachelor’s in psychology and I don’t want to waste anymore time.

I completely understand nobody has time to waste nowadays. I chose LVN because I wanted a transition from CNA to nursing.I didn't think I could handle BSN program. I'm only 20 so I have some time to keep going to school and make my goal of becoming a BSN in the future. I wish you well in your nursing career and in your psychology career. I know you'll get into your program.
