Has anyone taken the Capstone course at Chamberlain college of nursing in their online RN to BSN program? I will be taking it in July and would like to have an idea of how much work it will be.
Thanks!

I took it in 2010. There were many elements that had assignments (i.e., papers) such as your project introduction, the PICO question, a literature review, a design for change in practice, and a summary of all these elements (with a PowerPoint). The idea of a capstone is that it is a culmination of your learning, so you'll be demonstrating many concepts that you learned during the BSN program. We also did a peer review of each other's final PowerPoints. It was "busy," but not terrible as long as I kept up with my assignments and the required discussion posts as well -- can't forget those! :) Good luck, and congrats on being almost done!

Its scary going into a course and having no idea what to expect! I have friends in other programs doing capstone and theirs involves a lot of volunteer work. I'm just looking forward to being finished! Thanks again!

No problem! I felt the same way before the capstone -- didn't really know what to expect until I saw the syllabus! Just remember I did my capstone three years ago, so it might have changed. The description still sounds the same in the catalog, though. :)

Lunah,
Did you take Capstone alone or with other classes? I am still on the fence as far as taking EBP and Capstone together! Most people don't do this combo so I am finding it hard to get info/feedback. Hard to imagine it taking more time than Stats.
I took the capstone by itself.

Have you checked the catalog for the prerequisites to the Nursing Capstone class? Last I knew Capstone had to be the very last nursing class you take in their RN-BSN program, and it cannot be taken in in conjunction with any other nursing classes. However, you can take it with a non-nursing class such as economics or religion. FYI, EBP took up a lot of my time. It was pretty foreign to me and I put a lot of effort into it. I recommend taking EBP with a non-nursing class such as math, religion, or something else that you would consider to be easy and won't take up too much of your time.
Hey smile_through_it
I too will be taking the Capstone course online through CCN in July. Since it's your last course, I'm assuming you will be graduating in August? I am taking Economics and Capstone together and will be graduating August 31.
Maybe we'll be seeing each other in the same class on the discussion board.
Good luck,
Jess
