Has anyone attended or is currently attending Chamberlain College of Nursing in Atlanta? If so, how is it? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am currently attending a technical college and have done all of my pre requisites except for the sciences. My gpa is 3.40. I just found out about this school and I am very interested... thanks.
Hey guyy, I went for my appt yesterday, and I must say I may still sticker price shocked. After the govt loans, and still have about $7900 left to pay out of pocket!!! Guess thats where the private loans come in.
sharieka, they took all my classes, so I only have to go two years and one semester. I wish I had more than 19 hours, but thats better than having none at all. I am going to take 2 online classes, and nurs 101 starting in sept. Then I will take another 2 online classes in october. You can only take a max of 9 hours a session which I think is crazy. If you want to take 4 and 5 classes you should be able to when we are spending as much money as we are to attend there. Just my opinion.
I ask about still trying to work, and he said its possible up untill the 3 semester which then you start clinicals. Hope this gives you somethings to expect when you meet with them today.
Jsayers11,
Wow thats crazy!! im super glad all ur credits transferred! but that $7900 is a nice chunk! I can suggest possibly looking into scholarships for ur second year. A hand full of hospitals offer scholarships awarded to those who can commit to working for that hospital for the length of time that the hospital provided aid. Usually u have to have ur first year under ur belt in order to apply. But you should definitely look into it. Also, if u lighten ur hours at ur job...u might be able to receive a pell grant (depending on ur income of course) but the pell is good for $5500 per semester, so that should be able to take care of the remaining total.
That's really dumb that we're maxed out at 9 credit hours! that's actually some bs! I'm used to taking around 5 classes at a time! and wit the cost of the program...its really not fair. but hey...what can ya do? I'm really excited bout my visit on Friday. Hey...my adviser told me registration starts July 28 @ 10am...do u know if its mandatory to register in person? or can it be done online? Cuz i will be outta town that week. Did ur adviser mention this?
Sharieka,
It def is a big chunk of money. I am going to try and pay most of that out of pocket to minimize the private loans. I dont want to rack up to much debt you know. My advisior told me that someone would be calling to schedule my classes. He did say eventually we would register online which makes much more sense. I wonder why they will only allow a max of 9 hours? When you go on Friday ask about this. I was so involved about the money, I forgot to go over that. I would like to take more as well to get it done faster, and say some dang money.
