Chamberlain College of Nursing in Atlanta, GA

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Has anyone attended or is currently attending Chamberlain College of Nursing in Atlanta? If so, how is it? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am currently attending a technical college and have done all of my pre requisites except for the sciences. My gpa is 3.40. I just found out about this school and I am very interested... thanks.

It's not that hard in my opinion to get into this school compared to other schools. This was my first time applying to a nursing school though. As long as you meet all the requirements, then you should be fine. Start studying now for the HESI test, and score at least a 75 or higher. Good luck to you!

@Jsayers11 The drug screen is done at a "doc in the box" type place :) They will choose one close to your house and you have 48 hours to get it done. The pre-enrollment meeting is just meeting with the finance person, who will go over an outline of what your courses will be and approximate graduation expectation, costs, etc. You also meet with your advisor to go over paperwork and sign contracts, get the drug screen set up.

Sorry it took me so long to respond but I'm kinda glad it did cuz I now have answers to ur questions! My adviser called today and informed me that ALL MY CREDITS TRANSFERRED!!! YAY!! So I get to start with nursing classes!! Also, my appt is scheduled for July 13...I could've done the 12th like you Jsayers11 but Thursdays are really busy at my job. But I'm really excited! I even took Pathophysiology at Clayton State in 2008 and that transferred too...so I don't even have to take Patho 1&2 in the first semester! It will be really cool if we're classmates tho, guys lol

@HassonBFutureRN

I think it might be a lil easier to get in now bc they are still brand new in Atlanta...so they want to fill up. I think it might get harder to get in as the school becomes more popular and established in the A...so get it while the gettins good, I guess!

Yea I went to the information session and toured the school. I was very impressed at what I saw. The receptionist made a comment about the program needing more guys, because they haven't been getting alot of applicants from guys. I'm going back next week to do my application and sign up for the HESI. what was the math like on there? I HATE MATH!!! LOL

Sharieka, Thats great that all the classes transferred! That also gives me a lot of hope that mine will as well. He hasn't called me about it, but I know he is prob pretty busy. I will be meeting with them on the 12th to go over all of that. I might call them on Monday just to find out. Cant wait to put a face with your name lol

beckyv, what do you mean by contract? Is that like a promise to pay or something. I'm not sure if I am the only one, but I will be paying it all with student loans. I don't qualify for nothing, but loans. Its a a lot to take it because it will be so much student loan debt u know. I just have to stay postive right now. Lucky for me my current job has offered me a RN position in our surgery center once I complete my school. Thanks for the info and what to expect? Are you starting in Sept as well?

It is just things like the drop dates, payment dates, policies... Nothing too crazy :) I'm all loans too, since I have a previous degree, unless I get a scholarship... But I figure that I will make that $$ back with a nursing job fairly quickly, so it will be worth it.

Looking forward to meeting you guys in September! :D

I hope I will too! One more question, Is the drug test urine or blood? I sometimes am a hard stick, so I need to prepare if its blood? Thanks again for the info. I really appreicate it.

It's a urine test...Super easy :)

Ok good! That's super easy. Thanks again! :nurse:

@HassonBFutureRN

I'm glad u liked what you saw! if ur numbers are decent its very likely for u to get in! The math portion is not too bad...i HATE math as well (trust me) but i got a 92% on the math portion and 93% overall. U should definitely get a study book for the Hesi and go over the practice problems in there. I didn't know that there was gonna be a calculator on it so when i studied...i wrote everything out! lol. So the style of the study guide is the style of the test PLUS a calculator. So its pretty easy.

@Jsayers11

I think the reason all my credits transferred is bc the schools i went to were all accredited...i didn't even have to submit any of my old syllabi for them to accept it. they just accepted them as is. So as long as the schools u went to are accredited u should be fine. I'm all loans also but i will also be looking into scholarships. Outta pocket is Outta the question! I dont even know if i'll be able to find a new job in time! also...THAT IS SOO AWESOME THAT UR JOB OFFERED U AN RN POSITION!! Thats sooo great!! That's some real incentive! I'm sure it feels great to not have to think about how ur gonna find a job upon graduation.

Thanks Sharieka, they really like me there, but I have been with them for 5 years. I went to Chatt Tech in Marietta, and I believe that are accredited as well. I really hope they take all my classes beacuse if not I might have to rethink this school. The reason is I had to pay for all those classes. The FAFSA said I make to much money to get any grants. Guess I will find out in a week or so.

Yeah this is the first year that i am not eligible for the pell grant because i've had my job for almost 2 years so I worked all year in 2011 making my taxes say I got paid too much. Sux cuz I wont be makin that when I start school! smh. But I'm pretty sure your credits will transfer. No reason for them not to.

I wish there was someone from the April 30th start to let us know what its like.
