I have passed my 1st trimester classes, am enrolled in 2nd trimester courses which start next week. I have all my shots, my CPR, my paperwork completed, even have my Chamberlain uniform hanging in the closet, and I am still not sure if I have a clinical 'spot' yet. My advisor says she waiting on a return call from my choice hospital, shouldn't that have been done already? They pushed us from almost day one of last trimester to get it together and I did exactly what I was told to do every step of the way.
I have been under the assumption that I need to begin clinicals when I begin the clinical course ( Life Span 1 in this case).....I am trying not to panic, I am trying to trust the school since they have done this longer than I have.....
Please....current, past Chamberlain students share your experiences....

Chamberlain is the new name of Deaconess School of Nursing in St. Louis MO. They used to offer an online program where one could get LPN on way to RN or stop at LPN if they wanted. The school was bought recently by a company (forgot name). They have changed their criteria somewhat. LPN is no longer an option I understand. The clinical portion of the program is done in a preceptored mode at a local institution where the student lives or the student goes to St. Louis at designated times to complete a clinical experience. This used to be a very good option for online nrsg education. Now they no longer let students from certain states enroll. Apparently they are having some of the same problems as Excelsior with states no longer accepting their program.

Chamberlain is the other nursing program frequently discussed on this forum. Here's a link:

why if they are getting clinicals, what is the big deal, just like every other nursing student out there?
Can I ask why BON are being like this, with a critical shortage of personel, why are they being so dead against online programs. And it sounds like this one even encorperate the in-person clinicals everyone is up in arms that EC doesent have?
Oops - sorry I posted on top of you, caliotter3.

Sometimes I find that I'll be writing a post and by the time it gets to the board there are 3 other posts already there! No wonder our site needs some work done on it! We can't all talk at once!
I was considering Chamberlain as a viable option at one time, but they no longer take students with addresses in my state. I agree with the opinion of MedicEllis, there are too many brick walls being placed in front of prospective nurses. My friend and I were discussing this one time. She said that the states were simply coming up with this bad attitude toward Excelsior b/c they are being "territorial" about the nrsg school seats in their jurisdiction. They could care less about the nrsg shortage, they do not want any other school taking away student dollars. Makes sense to me, but it doesn't solve my need for nrsg school.
