Challenge Exit Hesi.

Has anyone or has anyone heard of anyone challenging an exit hesi to graduate from their university?

Its simple - I've passed every class required in my BSN. I did not meet the requirements of the exit HESI.

- The HESI which is: a third party arbitrarily graded test that does well to predict a passer but not a person that will fail. It's not universally used or managed. And the vast majority of people that do not pass the HESI when not required to do so, still go on to pass the NCLEX.

- It prevents a student from graduating with, at the very least, their degree. Just a "good luck" from the facility on paying your student loans without even getting a shot at the NCLEX.

I've heard its banned in New York from my representative in the Kentucky Board of Nursing, as well as no longer used in North Carolina and Texas.

Are there any other states that ban the HESI? Where can I find the info. Google only brings up pages from here at allnurses .com.

I live in Texas and HESI is still being used every semester and as an exit exam. I don't agree with it, but it is being used to determine who graduates.

I was one point away from passing the math portion and 98% on the rest. I presented the question to HESI and they said to go to my school's nursing division for them to submit the request. I wanted to review the exam with the nursing advisor in my school in the testing center and they denied my request. They also said that question was not on the exam. HESI claims their test is of the highest accuracy and integrity. If this is their claim, why won't they allow me to prove or disprove one question that will either pass me or confirm I need to retake.

My nursing division will not contact me anymore on this and I'm frustrated. Anyone else?

Hesi is still being used in Texas. I live in Texas and am taking my 3rd time tomorrow. I got an 812 then 846. We need 850 to graduate. BON is highly against use of this high stakes exam but its still being used.

Also used in NM, from what I understand, the HESI is actually more difficult than the NCLEX, however the students that pass the HESI have a tendancy to pass the NCLEX from what my instructors said, I've taken and passed both relatively recently, and the HESI, to my recollection, felt like the more difficult test, though I choose to take it shortly after vomiting quite a bit, so take it as you will

I just graduated from a school in IL that used ATI instead of HESI. We took ATI each semester & then an exit exam just like most of you. Our exit exam did not determine if we passed or failed, though. It did tell us our chances of passing NCLEX on the first try & my school does have a standard they like you to achieve.

I just graduated on 12 May from a college in MO and we used the ATI. But I was told by an instructor that the classes following would be using HESI.

I just graduated from an LPN school in Ohio and we were required to tale the HESI as our exit exam. We were allowed two chances to pass since the first testing date was only a month in our last quarter. I got 827 the first try and 859 the second try. Less than half the students in my class passed it though so those students challenged it and won but only because it wasn't originally in the handbook that it was an exit exam required to graduate. Every class now on is required to pass it but I really don't see that staying seeing as only half our class passed it and with two tries!

My school gives everyone two chance to take the comprehensive HESI with a minimum score to graduate. After that you have the option to repeat the senior capstone course and retake the exam. We were required to sign a contract during orientation stating that we acknowledged the exit HESI was a graduation requirement. I don't know your specific situation, but if your school has a similar policy, I'm not sure how much help challenging the exam would provide. Best of luck to you regardless.

It was required for my ADN program in NC. It was 10% of our grade however, they used to require you to get a set score but with our class changed it to 10% of our overall grade the last semester. I made a 950 on the first one and a 720 on the second one, we were required to take it twice. The second exam I got was way harder than the first in my opinion. I have graduated and already passed the NCLEX and I can most def. say the HESI was not a good indicator of how one will do on the NCLEX.

I live in ND currently and just graduated from nursing school in MN. We did the Hesi as our final for a class. We were not forced to get a 850 or 900. Our teachers just wanted to see where we were at. I did not study at all for it and I got a 897. I am now terrified about the NCLEX though. Some areas on my Hesi were below the 850 and I am so worried that I am gonna fail.
