Regardless of whether or not the family members were the POA, it is the responsibility of the nursing home to ensure the patient's safety so the alarm should have been placed. If the nurse cannot explain to the family the necessity of the alarm, then the DON should have been called to do so and if the DON can't, then the administrator. I am an ADON and have been dealing with this issue recently. If the family does not want an alarm, then they can take their loved one to a place that is negligent and allows refusal of safety measures.

I don't think he should have been written up and I don't think he should be suspended. As the charge nurse, you could have simply spoken to him and gave him a verbal warning. I agree with other posters, females sit around and share stories about the men in their lives, how is this any different? Are you his friend? Is that why he showed you? That part is really strange to me!

We are required to post our original response to the DQ and 1 response to a peer. That being said, there usually are two DQs each week. So two original posts and one post, on different days, to our peers in each DQ forum. That's a total of 4. I'm at work now but when I'm off I will post what the instructor said as I'm sure I just made zero sense lol :)

Good for you :) my employer has decided they are going to pay me for however many hours they want instead of the salary I'm told I was to receive. I work 45+ a week and you pay me less than 40?!?!?! Needless to say, ill spend the weekend doing homework and searching for a new job!

My advisor told me its because the class is not full yet so they haven't opened it. He thought it would be tomorrow.

I work full time as an ADON and mds coordinator! I also start tomorrow. I got my first associates degree online through Phoenix and there was a lot of writing; I don't expect this to be any different but we can do it :)

I start Monday, too, but I am doing the BSN-MSN bridge. I will be doing the transitions class & not sure what else! As of Sat they were still evaluating my transcripts. I'm thinking it'll be a history elective, in which I chose the history of nursing. Good luck :-)

Haha, I understand the wanting to sleep in thing! :) That being said, like my other post says, I had a double ear infection, so while I DID sleep A LOT, I was miserable Definitely catch up on sleep because once you're working, you will not get any!

I graduated May 19th and spent the next 6 weeks working and studying for NCLEX. I literally only left the house to go to the store or go to work! And, sometimes while at work, I was studying (I was doing home care at the time). I wanted to have a party or do something nice with my family on graduation day but I had a double ear infection that I got the night before graduation...what are the odds?!?! My family did take me out for dinner but I was MISERABLE and came home and went to bed. I took NCLEX on June 11 and passed (thankfully) and had been applying for jobs before that. I interviewed at two places and got a job, on the spot, as an ADON/MDS coordinator. So, since then, I've been working my ass off lol. No time for vacation here! I start my BSN-MSN bridge program on Monday, July 9th, at Chamberlain... I think I must be crazy! I had all these big plans of going on a trip, even if only a few days, and I haven't done squat!! My parents were going to send me to NY to visit my friend for a week, but I started my new job too soon. BOO! My life sucks, too But it will work itself out and hopefully, SOON, we will both be rollin' in some cash and going on some trips.

Yikes. I love IL...not!! Just to let you girls know I did get my physical license today. They could at least print it on more sturdy paper for $50!! Lol

I hope you two post soon :) I didn't even know it had! I was at work and my enrollment guy (I start my BSN-MSN bridge on Monday..Eek!) emailed me and said it did. I logged in right away and there she was!! :) :)
