Chairty fall 06 applicant--anyone else??

I applied for charity for fall 2006. Since the hurricane I know everything is messed up, but I hope I can still have a chance at getting in for this coming fall. I called charity today and they said that they have to make a decision by January 23. So I just have to wait a few more weeks to see if I get in. I have been back and forth to charity since I returned home from atlanta. They lost my application and pax scores. I had to go fill another app out and bring a copy of my pax scores. Anyone one else hoping to get in fall 2006???

Hi, I was a senior at Charity when Katrina hit. I came to Cleveland Tennessee to finish school. I graduate in May and am so excited! I wish you luck at Charity and say hi to all there for me. Especially Ms Gordon and Mr Bagby.

Hey everybody, I am new to the site. I just graduated in January from Charity and enjoy reading your posts. I was part of that dreaded senior class of Hurricane Katrina. I am now relocated to Ft Myers Florida with a 10 week old (who I had the day after the final on Jan. 19th) and a 6 year old. I have many a Charity story...know what teachers to take and "stay away from" and what hospitals give the best clinicals. It was the hardest thing I did but If I can do it with a 6 year old, 9 months pregnant during Hurr. Katrina YOU ALL CAN DO IT. Just email me of you have questions and most of all GOOD LUCK.

I havent been on here in a while but i did get my letter finally a few weeks ago...i had got a call and was asked to go up to Charity and get it. so now im just waiting on another packet with other info I was told i would recieve it sometime this week. Well I guess i will see most of you there in August!

hey guys, I have had a few people email and ask about teachers. I am assuming all the same teachers went back. I do know some have moved around to different levels but I will list my top picks for each level

BASICS- BONDS, MANIERI, LEEFE

NAC1-BAGBEY, BREEDEN (was my senior instructor but moved to NAC1)

Mental- EVANS-HERRON

PEDS- GARCIA, AMIE (think she may have retired) NO STEVENSON!!!!!!!

NAC11-DODSON (very nice), MS CALL

Their are many other good ones but these are my top teachers. When you get your sections and know your teachers, post their names or email me and I will let you know wether to stay or run for your life.

The best thing to do is to take both before you get in if you have time.

Nursing school is hard enough w/o adding prereqs to the mix

get a good recorder and make sure if you get a copy of the t-notes (you'll find out what they are) that they are current. Some are so old they are useless. Get the study tips book they reccommend. The questions in the book help you get a feel for the test questions. Remember most of the questions may have two right answers you have to pick the one that is "more right". Make sure to have a 3 inch 3 ring binder for the first day.

They pass out the course guide which is about 300 pages and basically your bible for the semester. Since the Hurricane most of the elevators get stuck about three times a day. TAKE THE STAIRS!! I just finished Nac 1 in accelerated format. It was hard but I got a B. I am taking Peds/Mental Health over the Summer also accelerated. After all this Nac2 should be a breeze. Tips for Basics-Do the Fundamentals Questions. Read the book (I don't care how many people say DON'T. READ it.) Do the BOLT exercises. Don't miss class. Think common sense on the test. When you're taking the test and you're down to choosing between two answers that might be correct, pick the common sense answer.

"Need for further understanding"=choose the WRONG/FALSE answer

Do really well on the FIRST and SECOND test (They are the two easiest ones.) Then you don't have to stress out as much as the semester progresses.

Get thee in a study group. It's a must.

Ditto what the other student said about the T-notes. Get the CD. It's floating around.

Thanks for all of the good advice everyone. It is great to hear from someone who has "been there and done that".

I just got my letter in the mail today to schedule my first advisor meeting. My advisor is Mrs Vessier-Batchen. I have to call to schedule an appointment so that I can register for my 112/115 classes.

What exactly should I expect from my advisor?

Any suggestions on where to park? (that is cost effective)

Is anyone aware if the t-notes cd has been put on a website that can be downloaded? I know alot of students and teachers utilize groups like Yahoo-and may have this on a site? Where is the best place for a "newbie" to get their hands on this?
