CGFNS: To take or not to take?

Published

Good Day everyone!

Hi! I'm a June 2007 board exams passer here in the Philippines. I'm still jobless for the reason that I have to review for my CGFNS/NCLEX exams. You know I'm confused whether to take first the CGFNS exams or go straight ahead NCLEX.. My uncle who is in Virginia said that the BON there requires foreign nurses to pass first the CGFNS-QE before taking the NCLEX. As I have read on other threads, taking CGFNS is really optional and a waste of time unless the particular state you're applying to needs it. My question is that, are there other options or ways so that I can avoid taking that CGFNS exam saving time and effort but still I can be licensed to the state of Virginia? My uncle wants me to take that CGFNS, but I know there are options.

As of now, I'm finishing thousands of questions which my uncle advised me. I don't know whether to review for CGFNS first or go straight ahead review NCLEX. Thank you for reading my post. I'm hoping for your replies and help!

GOD BLESS EVERYBODY!

Hiiiiiii!!! Please check your preferred state of the requirements and check if they require you taking CGFNS exam before taking nclex because only few states requires it and it would just be a waste of time, money and effort if you'll take cgfns exam though not needed.

I took cgfns exam 2006 then nclex & ielts 2007 but i am still here in the Philippines. See? And I regret that I tooked cgfns because i spent a year for it (review, exam and most of all "the waiting period on applications and result).

Where in the states you applied for your licensure?

You should be deciding first where you wish to work, not who has the easier requirements. If you are not going to work there, then you are still going to be required to do things that you could have done in the first place and save both money and time.

Suggest a good read here on the forums before you do anything else.

hi all..... i have a few questions which needs to be answered.....i am a registered nurse back in India. My spouse is here in US on F-1. and i have come here as F-2 visa....

1. can u tell me which all tests should i clear to get a job in nursing field and apply for a green card..... ???

2. Is it going to be NCLEX OR CGFNS..... and at the same is it necessary to give IELTS...???

3. And what all procedure is to be followed in doing this.....?????

4. How much time is it going to take for the conversion of status.....???????

Please take the time to read the Primer at the top of this forum. There is no way for you to adjust your status at this time as there are no visas available.

You only need the NCLEX-RN exam provided the state that you want o get licensed in is not one of the four that still require the CGFNS exam.

You will be required to pass the English exams and get a Visa Screen Certificate as well as this is required for immigration purposes.

Please read up on the retrogression that you are directly affected by at this time.

Mam what are the remaining states that require cgfns exams?

thanks a lot for the info...

They have already been discussed here multiple times, you need to take the time and do some reading.

There is much information that you truly need to have besides a list of four names.
