Published

hi there! i'm a nursing graduate here in the philippines. i would just like to ask if aside from passing the local board exam here in the phils. and nclex, is cgfns exam also a requirement if i have plans of working in chicago? coz others said it is necessary but others don't... i'm a bit confused... :uhoh3:

another question is that, what exam do i need to take? ielts or toefl?

thanks so much in advance! hope you could help me... good day to all!

hi, cheekai_19! no you don't need cgfns for illinois. go to this website for the application and instructions: http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/apply/rn.asp

i think you need toefl but some people just gave a waiver when the language used for instruction in your school is english.

try going to this thread also: https://allnurses.com/forums/f75/ms-suzanne-anyone-who-applying-illinois-pls-help-155888-24.html

hope this helps!

welcome to the site

To take NCLEX you need to apply to state BON for licensure, depending on state depends on whether you need to take CGFNS exam although now there are only a few states that now require the exam. It will take months whilst going through the process and only once you get permission from the BON will you get your ATT and then you need to register with pearsonvue and arrange to sit the exam

how important is taking the CGFNS? do we really need to take this or is NCLEX sufficient enough? ^^_

This is a very old thread.

Depends on what you mean by CGFNS. They offer a few different services. If you mean the exam then there currently is only 4 states that require this exam most will accept CES which is a course evaluation

Hi!If the TOefl would be waived, to whom shall I addres this concern, so that my english proficiency will be waived, BON or CES/CGFNS?thanks so much

Do your CGFNS-CES first. When the CES report is on your hand, it will be indicated there that the Language used in your school is english and utilized english textbook. (Something like that). That will be the basis of CTS (Continental Testing) / IDFPR in waiving your TOEFL or english proficiency for the meantime. However, you will be needing the english proficiency in your visa screen.

Thanks so much @Sairo. I think it would be best if I would just postpone my Toefl on a later date. I have to focus on more important things first like the NCLEX itself. I hope that english proficiency will be waived.(crossing fingers!)

If the BON decides English exam is a must they will not allow you to sit NCLEX without it. Best thing to do is wait for CES and see what happens
