CGFNS after NCLEX?

World Registration

Hi I'm new here. I moved from Nevada to Utah. I used to work as RN in NV (my original license is CA). When I applied for my UT RN license through endorsement they required me to have CES and CGFNS Certificate. Anyways, I already have the CES sent to the UT BON and I already passed my TOEFL. My question is do I really need to take the CGFNS qualifying exam knowing I already passed the NCLEX? The page shows qualifying exam or NCLEX. If I do need to take the exam, how hard is it compare to NCLEX?

Thanks

I am somewhat confused why you did not use the CGFNS or your initial license (it seems). If you are foreign educated, the BON might not endorse your license without review of all supporting documentation because of due diligence.

When I added a license in a different state, although licensed in working for years, I had to get papers from the CGFNS send to the other BON for review. I never took a CGFNS exam but I had to go through the whole CGFNS process to get the certificate.

When I applied for my CA license They didn't require CGFNS to evaluate my transcript, the Board did it by themselves.

Now, Since UT wants me to have not the CES (Professional credentials evaluation) and CGFNS Certificate, I purchased both. CGFNS already issued my CES report. FOr me to have the CGFNS certificate I need to 1. Get my credentials/transcript and license/s evaluated and verified--DONE, 2. Pass the English proficiency exam---I did TOEFL and thanks God I passed, 3. Take the qualifying exam.-- I already have the authorization to test and scheduled it for July. But, in my opinion it doesn't make sense to take an exam that is a PREDICTOR if I'll pass the NCLEX or not. I already did that's why I have my CA RN license. That's why I am asking if anyone have the same experience. If there's no other way, I'll take the CGFNS qualifying exam but I want to know its difficulty level compare to NCLEX.

thanks again

Somehow that sounds nuts.

I wonder why they would want you to take the CGFNS exam if you have already the NCLEX. There must be a misunderstanding. Did you email somebody?

It is normal to send the CES report and language stuff but to sit for a CGFNS test when you have already a license can't be right. Please email the board and perhaps higher up if the answer is strange.

I looked at :

Licensure by Endorsement

and it does not say that you have to sit for the CGFNS exam if you are already licensed and want to endorse.

Are you legally allowed to work in the US?

And look here:

http://www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/education/edp-i-35.pdf

It says under 1 c that they do not need the CGFNS exam for CA license....

I've done the CGFNS exam and have found it v difficult. Can't compare to NCLEX as have not completed the latter exam.

Did you pass the test? I'm failed. T__T

Hi! I came across your question because I am in the same boat as you. Im just wondering how did it go? how was the CGFNS qualifying exam? Im trying to move my NY RN license to UT and yes i am a foreign grad as well and they asked the same requirements from me.

Im wondering how hard was ur test ??

Did you use the same tools to pass the nclex ?

Hey

i am in the EXACT same boat, trying to get my Utah license, I do have my Missouri license. I was educated in Germany. I already took the NCLeX passed and have the MO license but Utah BON asked the same thing of me. Any new answers or outcomes ?
