Hi, Canadian RN here planning to work in U.S.
What is the difference between CGFNS CES and CGFNS VISA SCREEN? Can I utilize the CES as one of the required documents for a TN visa? I paid for CGFNS CES instead, I didn't realize that Visa Screen is needed as well. Please advise what to do. Thank you so much!

Hi. There are two CES certification - Professional & Academic.
CES Professional - "It is a Report that meets the specific requirements of individual state boards of nursing."
CES Academic - "It is designed to meet the needs of applicants pursuing further education in U.S. institutions of higher learning. It provides a detailed analysis of the nursing education received outside the United States."
Visa Screen "is a comprehensive screening service for healthcare professionals seeking an occupational visa to work in the United States". The VisaScreen®: Visa Credentials Assessment Service requires specific health care professionals to complete a screening program before they can receive either a permanent or temporary occupational visa, including Trade NAFTA status."
Visa Screen is usually the certification required for TN. I have never heard someone yet who used CES for this. Depending on the State, some Board of Nursing will request for CES. Some Board will accept CGFNS eDAS - documentation you submitted for your Visa Screen. I don't think that your payment is refundable. Either way, you probably can use the CES in the future.
You can check what the Board of Nursing required here: https://www.cgfns.org/select-your-service-by-state/
Thank you so much for the info and your prompt response, appreciated it.
