CGFN form: Australian RN

World International

Published

Hello, my fellow Australian Nurses!

I recently submitted the "Record of academic transcript" CGFNS form to TAFE NSW where I did my Diploma of Nursing but they stated that they won't fill out the form unless it comes from CGFNS. I am pretty sure CGFNS won't send the email to fill out the form.

Any insights on what can I do? I emailed CGFNS but haven't heard anything back. My university where I completed my Bachelor of Nursing is happy to do it and processing so I don't get why TAFE is declining it??

Following.

APHRA refused to sign my form from CGFNS. Apparently they have their own form to generate for nurses seeking international licensure.

I am writing CGFNS an email stating I spoke with my regulatory body and they have refused to sign. Just to notify them why I will be submitting different documents but same information.

Fingers crossed -this is not a quick ride!

Hey Chelsea,

After my research, I found out that AHPRA would send their own form directly to CGFNS after you mail them the form "certificate of good standing" which costs $50. Aphra won't fill out any forms, I saw that on the Aphra website saying they have made an agreement thing w/ CGFNS.

After I mailed to Aphra, I got the following email from Aphra:-

" Dear Miss,

Your request to send a Certificate of Registration Status (CoRS) to The USA CGFNS International, Inc., has been completed.

Your CoRS was issued on 13 May 2022.

Please do not respond to this email as the account is not monitored.

If you have any further questions, please contact us online.

Kind regards,

Registration Administration Team "

Hopefully, this would work as it expires in 3 months. Been 2 months and it still says "waiting for initial documentation" on CGFNS website.

Also, would u have any idea about what course we could do as most Aussie nurses would be a deficit on paeds/OBGYN field ???

Hi Sammy,

OK I just had the similar email sent to me today regarding Aphra sending my registration to CGFNS. Total cost $50

I am still yet to get my Uni Transcript/certificate sent. Apparently the processing cost starts at $250 plus another $60 for mailing the hardcopy of my academic transcript!! Absolutely shocking. I studied through CQUniversity.  Have you had your academic transcripts processed?

As for the paeds/ OBGYN field, I am not sure tbh. I have emailed my Uni for advice and will notify of answers.

Hey Chels,

That's great! Hopefully, CGFNS will approve that form from APHRA (fingers crossed for both of us).

I went through TAFE to do a Diploma of Nursing then did my Bachelors through ACU. Uni has already filled out the form and mailed it to CGFNS (says under review on CGFNS site). Cost $150. They have also sent me a copy of the form filled & can already see I lack on Maternity and paeds :(((

I am having trouble with my college (TAFE) filling out the form. They are saying that CGFNS should send them the form instead of it coming through me !! As I am already in the states, it's hard to communicate w/the time difference. I thought the college is liable to fill out the form as I was an ex-student? Any insight on how should I approach this?

Hi Sammy!

How are you getting along with your CGFNS application?

Have you ever worked in maternity or paeds to make up those hours missing?

I asked my Uni if its possible to obtain my international licensure due to the fact I have a deficiency in paeds, but they weren't helpful to tell me if this would be processed.

I would suggest you email the BON in the state you wish to be licensed with  if you havent done already.

Im hoping to become licensed with Texas BON. I've asked them my questions so hopefully will get a clearer answer. Because I have already worked with paeds as an RN.

I haven't paid the expensive Uni transcipt fee due to being unsure if I definitely need these extra areas under my belt in order to take the next step and have my documents validated.

I wish you all the best,

Chelsea R.

Hi Chelsea and Sammy, do you have any update if your Certificate of Registration Status (CoRS) sent from APHRA to The USA CGFNS International was accepted or not. I am in the same boat and unsure how to process. Looks like APHRA won't fill the CGNFS license validation forms ? Please let me know if you have any update ?

Thank

Rex

Hey Chelsea, I was grateful enough for my uni to sent me tracking number for the forms. It said delivered 10 days ago but in CGFNS website says " Waiting for Initial document". I had majority of my placement on Medical ward :( Hopefully I can do some courses over at the states. I saw other Aussie nurses on the forum saying that they were deficient as well but no valid answer how they overcome that !

Hey Rex, yes Aphra won't fill out any forms. It's stated on their website that they have come into agreement w/ other international bodies. I would attach the link but can't find it now, (I read months ago on Aphra website when I applied). I am confident that CGFNS will approve it. Mine says " Received".

Most of my research says that CGFNS is very much time consuming so, I kinda wished I would have done w/ NewYork BON by filling 2 forms. Have a look onto those if u haven't paid the amount to CGFNS!

Cheers!

Hi Sammy, It was be great if they accept yours. I will process mine soon. I also have heard that CGFNS is a pain. I have not paid yet, so I will look into NY BON. But eventually we will have to do a CGFNS visa Screen to move to the US, so I started with CGFNS so I don't have to do extra work later again. Please keep on updating your status on things. Thanks.

Hi Rex,

Ah, right.. I think CGFNS is needed for visa screening. I have recently got green card at the states so I think I won't have to go through the CGFNS. 3 months in and still my college is very vague & reluctant to fill out those forms!!

Good luck with your process too, I will update if I hear anything back.

Hey Guys

I graduated from University of Canberra and moved to TX last year. I also got my green card and applied to CGFNS. It's gonna take atleast 12 weeks to get the documents reviewed so I am at week 10. If you haven't gone with CGFNS I suggest using some other credential reviewing agency because CGFNS is sooo time consuming. They way I got my Uni to fill out those forms was by directly getting in touch with my international liaison's office and paying 330$ for shipping, document handling and everything in between. Also, do you guys know of any nursing agency that can help with this whole process ?

Hi Chelsi,

A nursing agency to help support international nurses like us would be great. It's unknown territory to me.

I've opted out...not sure if I have enough paed hours to be approved for the states and don't want to pay extra money only to come to this conclusion..

Good luck ?
