I am a nurse from Italy and currently I live in Chicago. I have been going through the long process to obtain the nurse licence in the State of Illinois. I just got my CES report from the CGFNS that says "diploma comparable in most respects to completion of a first-level (RN) nursing program in the United States. However, the educational requirements included no clinical practice in nursing care of children or psychiatric/mental health nursing".
Now, the Board of Professional Regulation said that I need to complete those requirements before taking the NCLEX. Well...the problem is that all the nursing colleges I contacted in Chicago don't allow me to take just these 2 classes.
Does anybody have any information that can help me?
Contact the community colleges in the area, and see if you can register as a guest student to complete those hours when they have an opening. It is done all of the time in the US.
