I'm so very happy to say that I passed the ARC exam for certification today! Was fortunate enough to get very easy skills :)
I already have had orientation for a new job working in an outstanding group home for people who have suffered traumatic brain injury (TBI). This is a family owned company of 5 group homes and came very highly recommended to work for by one of my instructors. I am happy to *also* say that tomorrow, when I meet my residents at the Day Facility, I will already have gotten a nice raise due to my certification! So far our class has a 100% pass rate and counting. Our instructors were fantastic and we'll be sure to let them know and thank them.
Now, on working with TBI's - I have tried to find a forum on allnurses.com regarding TBI's and for others who work with people with brain injuries, but have had no luck. Does anyone know of any such forum here?
Thank you in advance and best of luck to the other students who are soon taking their exam as well!
Breathe deep! When I was waiting to start, I thought my heart was going to fly out of my chest; I was sooo nervous! (and I am "old and seasoned" too! haha) Just think and speak the steps as you do them and then think again before saying you have finished the skill!
Take care!
