Obviously, there seems to be considerable interest among nurses about becoming a CRNA. However, I would wager that a great many pre med, pre pharmacy, and pre PT sudents would also be interested in becoming CRNA's IF they had more awareness of what CRNA's did. Even my finacially depleted budget could find $25.00 or so to buy a book that laid out the basics in a friendly, but somewhat comprehensive manner. Any such tome should include chapters on subjects like: Getting in and staying in CRNA school and the best places to be a CRNA. It would also be nice to have information on more esoteric topics such as the cost and availibility of professional liability insurence. A prospective author might even consider publishing their work online although I think a paper back version would be the way to go since I could easily envision such a text being carried by many school book stores.
The only book I know of about CRNAs is out of print I've been unable to obtain it online or at book stores. "Watchful care. A History of America's Nurse Anesthetists" I don't remember who wrote it.
Or, if you have the cash, here is the book. You just have to try harder to find something.
BTW meandragonbrett goodluck with the blog, I hope you can keep it up for the whole time, then you could turn that into a book. Be sure to back it up on your home computer.
Craig, how do I back it up? Just copy and paste it into word? I'm not all there when it comes to computers. I know how to do what I need to. Thanks for the two book titles too. I'm going to try and see if I can get my hands on those.
