georgetown vs. umab

  1. i'm a pre srna who got accepted into georgtown for this fall. i have an interview set for umab in a few weeks. even if i have a great interview and i do get accepted, i think i'd still lean towards georgetown. should i just not interview w/ them?

the main reasons i like georgetown better:
    1) more experience; they've had the program for ?10 yrs, whereas umab just started their first class last fall ('04). i believe experience is very important. i don't want to be a guinea pig..
    2) it's much closer distance-wise & the commute would be more bearable than umab. plus, @ gtown, i'd be taking the metro (subway) my 1st yr which would save lots of gas $ & mileage.

the main reason i like umab:
    1) it's less expensive, about $9k less for the entire program. (that's not a whole lot, but it's a difference)

any info & advice is greatly appreciated!! thanx!!!

Sounds like Georgetown is your first choice. If money is the only reason you would consider the alternative, I would go with Georgetown. Your reasons for leaning toward Georgetown make sense to me. My first choice was TCU. As soon as I got my acceptance letter, I dropped all other schools. Congrats on getting accepted and good luck!

there's nothing like having a sheep skin from georgetown university. there's alot in a name. the other side of the coin is it doesn't matter where you obtain your degree. i'm sure each program will prepare you well for practice. once you've obtained the title crna you will be in high demand. best of luck!

    Hi Jean:

I am a student at University of Md. anesthesia program. Although the program is very oriented toward helping the students to get throght, we have paid a high price for being the first ones. I can give you details if you wish. Our present director is leaving at the end of April/May. I don't want to sound negative, but if I had to do it all over again I will go to a program with experience. This is just my opinion which may be different from other students.

Good luck in your new career, you will like it. The road is hard, but I think it pays all the efforts you will have to make to get through.
