georgetown vs. umab
there's nothing like having a sheep skin from georgetown university. there's alot in a name. the other side of the coin is it doesn't matter where you obtain your degree. i'm sure each program will prepare you well for practice. once you've obtained the title crna you will be in high demand. best of luck! georgetown grad

Doctor of Nursing Science - On-line
Jim, thanks for the research. You made me think - I should look at the faculty. I admit I only looked at those who were obviously nurses such as MSN or RN in their title and I was not able to find the one you mentioned. I did get bored looking at all the faculty listed so I may have missed the one you mentioned. I was pleasantly surprised to see faculty members with graduate degrees from Univ. S. Carolina, Purdue, Duke, U Phoenix to name a few. My figures are closer to $5000 but it beats U. Tenn at $38k/yr for out of state tuition.

Doctor of Nursing Science - On-line
Jim, Thanks for your reply. Harvard University was not regionally accredited until years ago. Not that I would compare the two. The other thought is the program listed at BSU is very well put together. It is not a dimploma mill, but it will not meet the needs of everyone. Tim

Doctor of Nursing Science - On-line
With all this talk about entry level doctoral degrees for advanced nursing practice I began a search to find out what was out there. I found a program on-line that offered all I was looking for. The program is a Doctor of Nursing Science (DNS) through Breyer State University (BSU). It is a private, non-regionally accredited program. The university is accredited through several other agencies. The president of the university is a PhD prepared RN. I post this because I want others to know of the program and to also receive input from the masses before I matriculate in the program. I accept the fact the program will not enable me to seek a university faculty position. It will however allow me to meet my personal goals to obtain a doctorate on-line and focus on a clinical practice of nurse anesthesia. One can easily find the universities web site through a search for Breyer State University or Doctor of Nursing Science. Tim

DOCTORATE for CRNA's?
Sorry if I'm repeating myself but I'm new to this forum. Breyer State University is an on-line program offering a Doctor of Nursing Science. BSU is NOT regionally accredited, but does offer accreditation through several organizations that I cannot attest to. If one's goal is a university faculty position then this program would not offer you the opportunity to meet your goal; however, it may be a program where one can obtain a doctorate degree on your time table and focus on nurse anesthesia. Perform a search for BSU or DNS and see what you think. Tim

DOCTORATE for CRNA's?
Breyer State University offers a DNS completly on-line. It is a private university that is NOT regionally accredited, but does have a list of organizations it is accredited through. It is a 90 semester hour doctorate and set up very well. The president of BSU is a PhD prepared RN. Do a search for their web site and see what you think. The degree won't prepare you for a university faculty position, but should meet one's personal needs. All responses welcomed. Tim
