<H.S Student interested in Nursing Field-Questions about CRNA>

Specialties CRNA

Hello there, my name is Dustin, and I am very interested in becoming a Nurse-CRNA! I am still a Junior in High School, which i understand is still very young, but I am very dedicated and motivated student. I have a very strong G.P.A, as well as many extra curricular activities. My grades are good enough to get accepted into the University of Illinois, but I feel that it would be less stressful and more enjoyable to attend Parkland Nursing School in Illinois. I was wondering if going this route might hinder my chances at becoming a CRNA; I still plan to go back after I graduate to get my BSN while working, so I understand I cant stop after 2 years! I am very eager to become a Nurse; I have this extreme interest in the Medical field! Overall I just want all of my choices to be the right ones to make, so that I can progress strongly in the Health Field! Thank you so much for your time...Dustin:rolleyes:

Wow!~ I think that its great you are so motivated. Now, channel that into getting good grades in nursing and science classes. Also, plan on spending a couple years or so in an icu. It might be a good idea to see if you can "shadow" or follow an icu nurse and a crna both. Do it now and consider it a good look at what you are buying into.

Great! Go for the brass ring and follow your dreams!

Keep your grades up, the shadowing is a great idea. To be honest, I am not sure about the requirements for CRNA but I would bet, attitude (and you already have a great one) is more then half the battle (the other half is education and experience).

Good luck to you!
