Certified Pediatric Nursing Exam

Looking for feedback!

I am an RN, BSN pursuing my FNP. I have one year left before I graduate w/ my master's/FNP. I have been working in pediatrics for 3 years, w/ prior ER experience. At this point, I see myself working in family practice right out of the gate as an NP, as I feel that is where I will learn the most initially and be able to help the most people. I really, really, enjoy pediatrics, but am not sure I want to specialize right away- as I just mentioned. In order to make myself more marketable as an FNP w/ pediatric experience, I have toyed w/ the idea of getting my CPN certification. I feel that many NPs and family practice providers do not feel prepared or equipped to take care of peds patients. Do I get the certification as an RN now? Or do I wait to graduate and get a post-masters certificate as an NP in pediatrics? Thanks for any information, insight, opinions, feedback, personal experiences you can offer in my dilemma! :)

To me, a post-masters certificate would be more useful than a pediatric nurse certification. I had the peds. cert. years ago. As a floor nurse in peds it was useful, but I don't think it would be as helpful when you're working as an NP.
