So, after all most 6 yrs in nursing-I took and passed the ANCC pediatric certification test. My job was willing to pay for 2 attempts and it comes with a raise, too sweet not to try. So I did.
If you are certified, what made you take the test?
If you're not certified, what's keeping you from taking the test?

I became certified in pediatric critical care in 2013. There was no incentive through my work to take the exam, it's just not something they care about. I wrote it to prove something to myself. That I really do know what I think I do... and when I'm explaining some complex situation to parents, the information I'm giving them is accurate. For me, that was all the incentive I needed.

I'm currently studying for it because technically I'm bored and it's just not in the cards to go back to school. I want to study for something. I work in Urgent Care currently, it's not something my job would pay for, I'm just always looking to learn.
I'm wondering if you had thought about taking the test to become Board Certified? As opposed to this? Just a question.
