Hey guys...
I am interested in becoming a CNM after I get out of school, and I'm having difficulty finding any good info about it. I have heard that you need a masters in nursing, but I don't know much else. Is anyone here a Certified Midwife?? or does anyone know anything about becoming one??
Thanks so much!

Hi Aislstarfish!
If you head over to the CNM board (https://allnurses.com/forums/f254), you may be able to find some answers to your questions.
I am not a CNM, but I am somewhat interested in becoming one. It is true that many of the CNMs have their master's degrees. I have heard that it is strongly recommended to get L&D experience before entering a CNM program.
There are some schools that have a nurse-midwifery track within their master's program (unfortunately, my state only has 2 CNM programs). There are several online CNM schools as well.
Hope that helped a little. :)

Not a certified midwife, but I know a little about it. It does require an MSN (Masters of Science in Nursing) with a concentration in CNM. Or you can get your MSN and do a post-masters CNM program.
If you go to the CNM discussion board https://allnurses.com/forums/f254/ , they could probably answer a lot of your questions. :)
Thanks guys :) I didnt realize that there was a CNM board here :-P

I did a google search of "Certified Nurse Midwife" and found a lot of information, so I'm not sure why you are having trouble. The number one site that comes up is the ACNM. You could start there.
Yeah i've googled a bit, i guess i just wanted to see if i could get some personal info or experience :) Thank you though!
