I am an RN and am in an RN-BSN program. If I can obtain a nursing certification in a specialty I can be exempt from a course. Does anyone know how to become certified if I have only had one year of nursing experience? Thanks!

Most specialty certifications require a certain amount of hours worked and passing some type of exam, such as CEN, CCRN, etc.

Agree with above poster. You can't just randomly pick a specialty and sit for a certification exam. Over the course of 26y, I've been certified in 5 different areas, and each of them had specific requirements in terms of length of experience and other qualifications. Some required letters of recommendation.
