Centura Health Nurse Residency October/November 2020

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi guys! Having a thread here has been super helpful for other jobs I've applied to so I thought I'd start one for Centura! I applied for the NICU track first choice with Perinatal second, with Littleton my top hospital and Parker my second. They sent me an automated request for a pre-recorded interview when I was done with the application. I'd love to hear where you guys are applying ?

I was under the impression that all nurse residency programs have this policy in place. Where did you do your nurse residency?

I'm not sure if all of them have this exact policy in place but UC Health's policy seems worse than other programs I've looked at. I just think its scummy in general to make you lock into a specific unit for 2 years and have to pay a fine if you switch. It's employee abuse but they seem to have normalized it at this point and everyone is just okay with it.

Community Hospital in Grand Junction has a RN Residency and they give you the option to move around if the initial unit-of-choice is not working out or if they feel like you would be a better fit in a different unit. No penalty, either.

Fortunately, I will most likely not have to do a RN residency. I will start working at an outpatient surgery center in October once I'm licensed. I  currently work for the attached ortho practice and got my foot in the door.

Still awaiting reply from Centura either way, though.

I see. Good information, thank you. Good luck! Sounds like a great first position.

So Denver Health has all of their new grad positions open too! If you look in the Job Search and type new grad, you will see all new grad positions open that you can apply to. I applied to their new grad float team since it is PRN + orientation. I am still waiting on the mom/baby, but dh is pretty slow though, and I still will wait for Centura NICU.

Hi all,

I applied and completed the one-way interview also for Centura a few weeks ago. No emails or calls yet ? getting anxious!

I completed the Centura one-way interview for the November cohort. I've been getting random emails saying that the process is still ongoing. The most recent one was on Sept 4th, and said:

Thank you for your interest in Centura Health's Nurse Residency Programs! We are on a mission to provide whole person care to our patients and our unstoppable caregivers are key in accomplishing our shared goals. At this time, we are reviewing your application and will continue to update you on your status.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

Centura Nurse Recruitment

Sounds like the same exact update texts/emails I’ve been getting! Always gets me excited to see but then disappointment haha

Hi everyone!

I also applied for the Nov cohort with Littleton as my first and Colorado Springs as my second location; put my preference list as NICU, perinatal, and med surg. Just graduated with my BSN in May with a 3.8, and my precious experience includes 6 years as a military medic and 3 years as a medial assistant working with adults and peds. The most recent email I got was the same one you all got on Sept 4th, I’m hoping to hear some news soon!

That is supposed to say previous not precious ?

I got an email yesterday asking to provide a list of references for skills survey. Anyone else get that?

Hi everyone!

  • I applied on 8/9 for the Fall Cohort For both Colorado/Kansas location and received an email for the that one way video record interview thing, which I submitted a few days after.
  • I received an email on 9/4 like everyone else stating application status in review.
  • Yesterday, 9/11, I received an email for a live, Zoom interview with 4 people for the Kansa location.
  • My interview is on 9/17 ?. The email said that “they” would discuss  the “Nurse Residency Role”. I’m bad at interviews. Going to have write down all possible questions and write them down so that I can turn to my notes if needed.

I applied for ER Nurse Residency, 2nd option: ICU, 3rd option: OR

I’m not a new grad. I’ve been an RN for almost 10 years with no hospital experience. Been working mostly in urgent care/triage, primary/specialty clinics. Currently a travel nurse for clinics.

It has been difficult to find an ER job in desired locations due to not having experience. I see a lot of New Grad/Residency jobs, as well as, Nurse fellowship programs. But I don’t fall on either according to all the places/programs I applied to. They would reply that programs/jobs are only for new grads and refer to apply for experience/fellowship programs but then I would get told that I don’t have the experience they’re looking for. So I’m like stuck in the middle, I don’t qualify or I’m too over qualified (which some have stated) but I shouldn’t be over qualified because I don’t have experience in that area I’m applying for ??‍♂️ ?. Been applying for months and this is the closest to getting through an application ?

Has anyone gotten interviews with managers yet?
