First I hope I'm posting in the right forum. I am looking to re-start my career in nursing, I've recently gotten my lapsed license renewed in Ohio, but I currently live in GA and don't have the funds to get re-certified here (long story). So I saw today at one of the hospital websites a job as a Sterile Tech working in CS, this is the first time I've ever seen this position advertised and found that you can get a variety of certifications through CBSPD. I'm very interested in this but my questions are: Is there a need for these positions? Since they are not posted how does one get these jobs?
Decades ago in my nursing program we did a stint in Central Supply, and during my years as a clinic nurse we had to maintain small suture removal and minor surgery packs etc. and operate autoclaves. So I do have a bit of experience but wonder if I can turn it in to a job/career as an LPN with additional certifications?

You could do the job with or without the certifications.
Thanks, is there a NEED for these jobs as I never see them advertised? Is it one of those jobs that, you call the head of the Dept?
