What is a central sterile area? Is that like an OR supply area where the instruments are packed and sterilized for comming operations?

I dont really know why there would be need for an RN in central sterile. If the staff of that unit is trained properly they know names of instruments or at least how they have to be bundled and the department equipment usage.

Maybe someone else will have some ideas.

While serving as a surgical technician in the Air Force, we rotated to Central Supply/Sterile Supply to help clean, assemble, package, and sterilize instruments. Do you have a specific question that I may be able to answer?
