All London hospitals have a name for being fairly unfreindly to outsiders, but I think that this is probably an extension of the nature of London. That is to say that London itself is a fairly different place to most of the smaller, friendlier cities. However, I have worked at the three hospitals you have mentioned and once settled have found them all to be good and on a ward level freindly too. Before all the Londoners jump down my throat let me expand on what I mean. The city I was originally from (and the hospitals I worked in) was a fairly average place. You could pass someone in the corridor a few times and would soon feel at ease wishing that person a good morning etc. In London, I have been here 10 years, I still can't get use to the fact that noone says hello. If you greet someone they tend to look at you like you are mad!!! Don't let this put you off though, my favorite of the hospitals you mentioned would be St Mary's. Good Luck.

Its a southern thing!! I've worked in london hospitals.......did my eye training at Moorfields, and southerns dont say hello.. full stop! I grew up in cheshire and it seems odd still to me that people can sit on a train and ignore each other. But thats the way it is.. But the hosptals were always friendly.. full of northerns and aussies!!
good luck

I have never heard about the London hospitals having a reputation against foreign people. London is so mulitcultural and diverse. Alot of the Nurses are black, asian, fillipino, australian, kiwi, irish, french, polish, czech, south african. We have a rentention problem here.
'Ok. London is like, the capital of England, so like naturally alot of the better hospitals are gonna be there, such as:
Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals
King's College Hospitals
St Mary's Hospital
University College Hospital London
Royal Free Hampstead
Barts and the London
Hammersmith Hospitals
those are the main acute hospitals in central london, but because south east england is so built up compared to the USA a hospital isn't ever far away in the south east. you just have to beat the traffic.
These hospitals are fantastic and perform some of the most advanced healthcare delivery in the world (ooh get me!!! )
Anywho, these hospitals also pay more coz they're in London. Come see 'em.
Guy's and St Thomas' where i'm traning has a TV programme on it. Ooohh!!!
