Is anyone out there currently attending the nursing program at CAC? If so, would you let me know where you have your clinicals?

Thanks!

hello,

i'm starting the nursing program this january, can anyone tell me what type of schedule i can expect for the first semester? so far, all i know is that i have class on wednesday and i think the pharm class is online?

thanks any info is appreciated,

jo

For the Fall 08 semester, my schedule looked like this:

Monday Skills Lab 9am-3pm for the first 6 or 7 weeks

Wednesday Lecture 9am-2pm

Wednesday Drugs n Dosage class from 2pm-3pm

Thursday Skills Lab 9am-3pm for the first 6 or 7 weeks

After the first 6 or 7 weeks, we then started clinicals. You either had clinicals Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. Your Monday skills lab then was from 9am til noon. Thursday skills lab no longer existed.

Hope this helped!

Thanks Rmacharrie,

that helps a lot. I'm trying to figure out a work schedule. I'm cutting my hours but it's nice to have some kind of idea what days I can and cannot work.

Hows the semester going? Are you in clinicals now?

Thanks and Happy Holidays

Jo

No, the semester is over. Woohoo! One down, three more to go!

We had our final last week, our last clinical was on Dec 4th.

Good luck with the class! It was a very exciting time for me.

Word of advice....READ THE BOOK!

Are clinicals for the first semester held on campus?

Congrats and thanks for the tip.

Jo

No, the clinicals are held at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.

thanks

did you do as well as you hoped for the final?

I'm excited about starting the program and getting underway to a new career. Are you going to take the LPN test after the first year?

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Jo

I did just as I expected on the finale exam. I only needed 22 pts to pass and 24 pts to maintain my B. And I got a B on the exam, so I was happy. I didnt study much because I knew I only needed a certain amount of pts. Bad thing, but hey, I just couldnt :)

Good luck as you start next month!

thanks,

thats great on your exam! Wheter you get an A or B in the end you'll still be an RN:nurse: I think even a C is passing.

Anyway, good job.

Jo

Chihmom8, Congrats to you in beginning your nursing journey. Seriously, before you know, you'll be in the thick of it and working through the program. Good idea on getting all your co-reqs done beforehand. The nursing classes are challenging and most would agree that being able to focus on them solely is extremely beneficial.

All of my clinical experiences have been great. CG is a bit slow, but that was my first clinical, so it was a nice way to ease into the nursing role. Maricopa is AWESOME. There is such diversity there, I learned so much. Yes, all of my clinicals have been at hospitals, but I know some have had hospice as well as time in clinics. You will always have one lecture day. Each semester is different after that. Your first semester will have a few more days spent on campus for lab practicums, etc and your second semester will include a day for Pharmacology lecture (not the whole day though). Again, things can always change, so staying flexible is the name of the game. There have been recent administrative changes, so things might be shuffled a bit. Let me know if you have any other questions. If you want to PM me your email, I will email you from my personal email. Good luck to you.

Any idea about EAC? I am starting there in the fall. I would love to know more about it...
